Job Title: Electronics EngineerJob DescriptionOur Power Electronics Design Engineers develop unique solutions that perform actuator controls, motor controls, environmental controls, electro-mechanical sensor interfacing, fuel/fluid regulation, digital communication, and input power conditioning. Additionally, these individuals possess a broad knowledge across many areas of Avionic Systems ranging from EMI, EMC and Lightning compliance, Environmental, Test and Systems Architecture, to name a few. Additionally, they will work alongside fellow engineers across multiple disciplines, including Systems, Software, Mechanical & Packaging, Hydro-mechanical, Environmental, Project and Program Management.Responsibilities
Design and develop high power AC (3-PH, variable frequency input, 120/208/440VAC) systems.
Develop high power DC input motor drives (1 - 100 kW).
Design and develop high power Boost Converters.
Create high voltage DC Inverter designs.
Engage in Power System Design, including noise control, simulation, and modeling.
Work on Power Conversion (AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC) and Power Distribution.
Develop Power Sub-System Designs such as filters, harmonic control, and EMI.
Handle Control Systems including servo control systems and motor/power/process control.
Design and develop Texas Instruments TMS320F28335 (motor controller) DSP hardware and C software for variable speed drives.
Design rectifiers and inverters using discrete and COTS IGBT.
Provide life cycle engineering support of Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH) in accordance with RTCA DO-254.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) with coursework in power electronics, motors, and motor drive technology is preferred.
More than 4 years of relevant Aerospace-Avionics design experience.
More than 2 years of direct experience in Power Electronics and Control System Design.
Experience with high power DC input motor drives (1 - 100 kW) and 3-phase power supplies.
Proficiency in electronics schematics, schematic design, PCB manufacturing, and PCB testing.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge and experience with environmental control systems.
Proficiency with simulation tools (LTSpice, SABER, PLEX, System Vision, MathWorks/Simulink).
Experience with analysis tools (Mathcad, MS Excel, Minitab, Matlab).
Proficiency with CAD tools (Mentor Graphics suite: PADS, Hyperlynx, DxDesigner).
Experience with documentation tools (MS Word/PowerPoint, Visio, Adobe, Nuance).
Proficiency with requirements and configuration management tools (Teamcenter, DOORs).
Knowledge of H/W programming languages (Labview, Visual Basic, eTPU micro-code).
Experience with FPGA/PLD devices (from Actel, Xilinx, Altera).
Proficiency with schedule tracking tools (MS Project).
Knowledge of ERP systems (EDMS, Team Center).
Familiarity with the internet tools (SharePoint, Intranet).
Knowledge of test and manufacturing processes in an aerospace electronics environment.
Understanding of DO-160 and MIL-STD 461 requirements for aerospace electronics.
