While no one knows what's going to change the world next, our people are already working on it.THE WORKThis position seeks a transformational leader to support Sikorsky’s Aviation Safety Management System (SMS) Senior Manager directly by leading safety risk management initiatives at an enterprise level to satisfy FAA and DoD SMS requirements. Typical tasks include: Develop an enterprise level vision and strategy for product safety risk management improvements / initiatives that meet or exceed Corporate, FAA and DoD SMS requirements. Prepare communications and executive briefings for all levels of company employees to promote and generate alignment with the SMS safety risk management vision and implementation strategy. Lead collaboration across functional groups and company sites to implement new or improved safety risk management processes; document all changes in the enterprise SMS manual and the company’s aviation safety risk register. Collaborate with leadership to help other divisions within the business area to implement SMS safety risk management in accordance with Corporate, FAA, and DoD policies. Lead the Aviation Safety Risk Working Group (ASRWG) to identify organizational and systemic hazards and coordinate safety risk management and escalation as required. Review analysis and mitigation strategies for all systemic or organizational hazards that represent a significant residual safety risk for Lockheed Martin and Sikorsky. Coordinate regular communications between leadership and programs to ensure adequate safety risk management leads to escalation and risk acceptance of significant residual safety risks when applicable. Coordinate and participate in review boards, safety culture surveys, and/or safety stand downs as an independent safety advocate, advisor, or subject matter expert. Lead development and documentation of Site Risk Profiles across all Sikorsky sites. Collaborate with the SMS Safety Assurance Lead to ensure that interfaces between the safety assurance and safety risk management functions of the SMS take place in accordance with Company policy and FAA / DoD requirements. Lead implementation of the Aviation Hazard Analysis system required for qualitative, hazard risk assessment methodology at an enterprise level. Ensure that a Human Factors and Classification System is used across the enterprise during safety investigations to address the contributions of organizational and cultural causal factors as part of safety risk management. Ensure that Flight Test Safety Risk Management meets SMS requirements, and that related significant residual safety risks are escalated to the appropriate executive level for additional direction, resources, or risk acceptance. Interface with internal and external safety committees to identify flight safety hazards and develop risk mitigation strategies. Lead collaboration with cross-functional groups to gather feedback and update key SMS policy and manual guidance at an enterprise level. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in engineering, or equivalent experience / combined education Ten years industry or military experience that has provided specialized knowledge in several of the following areas:o Aviation accident investigationo Aviation operationso Aviation maintenanceo Flight Test Safetyo Aviation safetyo Safety risk managemento Human Factors and Classification System (HFACS)o Systems safetyo Safety management system (SMS) Technical systems knowledge of Sikorsky products. Experience in drafting technical reports, including an understanding of aircraft technical terms and the capability to interact with subject matter experts. A good working knowledge of applying Human Factors and Classification Systems taxonomy during safety investigations. Familiarity with Aviation Hazard Analysis methodology. Experience with leading cross-functional teams in the implementation of organizational-wide processes. Ability to develop documents, spreadsheets and presentations utilizing Microsoft Office Suite. Desired Skills: Experience implementing safety risk management processes and metrics for flight test operations. Experience leading safety risk management initiatives as part of SMS implementation for Design and Manufacturing organizations. Experience interacting with domestic and international civil and military investigation authorities. Sikorsky rotary wing aviator and / or engineering, and / or quality management experience on the Sikorsky product line. Experience with military, FAA, and international aviation authority regulations. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per weekPay Rate:The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California and New York is $135,800 - $256,000.
