The RoleThe Intellectual Property and Technology Paralegal will be responsible for supporting attorneys and internal clients with various aspects of Intellectual Property (IP) matters related to trademarks, patents, copyrights, and domain names. This role is a part of the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) and sits in the Operations and Technology legal team. The successful candidate will provide paralegal support on a variety of legal projects supported by OGC’s Operations and Technology Legal team. This role will have primary responsibility, along with the General Counsel for Technology and Operations, for supporting IP matters at WTW including managing WTW’s trademarks, trademark renewals, and patents. In addition, the IP and Technology Paralegal will support attorneys on various matters related to technology transactions and new products, including protecting WTW’s intellectual property related to new products and the use of Artificial Intelligence.The Responsibilities

Maintaining and updating IP inventories and records.

Conducting research and analysis on IP issues and best practices.

Preparing and filing IP applications, registrations, renewals, and other documents with the relevant authorities, and where necessary, coordinating same with outside IP and WTW counsel.

Monitoring and supporting the enforcement of IP rights and assisting with the resolution of IP disputes.

Coordinating and communicating with internal and external stakeholders, such as business teams, outside counsel, and IP offices.

Managing IP budgets, invoices, and reports.

Providing IP training and education to colleagues and clients.

Supporting IP due diligence and provide support with various transactions.

Drafting IP assignments and licenses.

Working with external IP advisers and outside IP counsel.

Supporting attorneys in preparing business-facing IP policies.

Providing input on IP strategy.

Collaborating closely with clients and other external parties on IP matters.

Managing specific workflows, task lists, status updates, timing, and overall project organization for members of the Operations and Technology Legal team within OGC on projects related to IP, Technology, or other relevant areas.

The RequirementsThe role requires an IP paralegal with a combination of education, experience, and skills, such as:

A bachelor's degree or a paralegal certificate from an accredited program.

At least 5 years of experience in IP law or a related field.

Knowledge of IP laws, procedures, and terminology in the US and other international jurisdictions.

Proficiency in IP software, databases, and online tools.

Attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively under pressure and deadlines.

Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.

Creativity, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Detailed knowledge of IP processes and procedures with the ability to apply IP legal concepts to WTW’s business environment under the supervision of their manager and the Operations and Technology Legal team.

Ability to work collaboratively and to engage and influence in a matrix organization.

Demonstrate strong interpersonal and influencing skills which can be applied to both internal and external relationships, with the ability to reconcile compliance requirements with business needs.

Demonstrate exemplary personal and professional integrity and business ethics.

Exercises discretion and maintains confidentiality of sensitive information.

Please note that salaries may vary for different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance in the role.CompensationThe base salary compensation range being offered for this role is 100,000 - 130,000 USD per year.
