Community table is a charmed 75 restaurant in the New Preston Connecticut. Our exceptional community frequents our establishment with regularity and we have become a destination for far reaching communities across Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts.

Our talented FOH and BOH team consistency delivers an upscale relaxed efficient service, innovative cuisine focused on our local farms and a thoughtful beverage program to meet the diverse clientele we serve.

We are now seeking a well versed Sommelier/ beverage Director who can assist in leading the team so the restaurant can further grow and flourish. Our beverage philosophy runs parallel with our food philosophy; we constantly seek hand crafted and high quality wines from producers who care about their product as much as we care about ours.

Sommelier responsibilities include recommending wine varieties to our guests during service, actively participating in service, supervising wine serving and collaborating with winemakers to renew our selections and achieve better prices.

To be qualified for this role, you should have relevant experience in hospitality and be available to work during business hours. Ultimately, you will delight our guests by helping them choose the best wine to complement our cuisine.

Responsibilities

Create and update the wine list in coordination with chefs and the Food and Beverage Manager

Recommend food and wine pairings

Advise guests on wines based on their personal tastes and food choices

Inform guests about different varieties of wines and prices

Actively participate in service.

Ensure wines are served at the right temperature and within the proper glasswareManage wine cellar and ensure it’s fully-stocked

Train wait staff on available wine selections

Organize wine Dinner Bi-Annual

Ask guests for ID to verify legal drinking age

Comply with all health and safety regulations

Skills

Experience as a Sommelier, Wine Steward/Stewardess or similar role

Ability to create tasteful food and wine pairings

Extensive knowledge of different wines and which regions produce each type

Understanding of the winemaking process

Good communication skills

Availability to work during opening hours, including weekends and holidays

Flexibility to travel occasionally to meet with wine producers and visit wine-tasting events

Certification as a Sommelier or degree in hospitality is a plus
