Historic inn searching for either a PT seasonal weekend onsite innkeeper (May through October) or a FT long-term innkeeping couple if it's a good mutual fit. Looking for someone who can provide warm hospitality in an upscale, yet unpretentious environment. We are building a team of fun-loving, capable humans who want more meaningful work and an opportunity to join a growing business.
Primary services / responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Checking guests in and out; greeting and orienting them to the property
Preparing, serving (with help, when needed), and cleaning up after breakfast
Kitchen management including: breakfast menu planning, inventory, creating shopping lists, receiving food delivery, rotating/labeling/storing product to maintaining ServSafe food safety standards in the kitchen
Answering phone calls and replying to emails
Managing reservations and lodging payments with booking engine and online travel agencies for what is currently a nine-key inn
Laundry – linens and towels, stain treatment, and washing/folding, and inventory (this is typically a shared responsibility with housekeeping during our busy months)
Maintaining accurate records of current and past guests
Kitchen cleaning and organizing
Preparing and delivering packages for guests based on special services (i.e. picnic baskets, cheese/charcuterie boards, etc.)
Surveying the inn for cleanliness and maintenance issues
Communicating and collaborating with the property / general manager to address supply and maintenance needs
Directing and scheduling the housekeeping staff and wait table staff (when needed) for guest room turn-over and to keep common guest areas clean and orderly
Cleaning and maintaining common areas between housekeeping presence
Room turn-over as needed when occupancy is low and/or housekeeping is not available. Typically when there are two rooms or less that need to be flipped for new check-ins, the innkeeper handles it.
Receiving supplies & deliveries
Restocking beverage room amenities and maintaining cleanliness
Physical requirements of the job require regular standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling (up to 20 lbs)
Experience with social media marketing, event coordination, and/or sales would be a bonus!
For a candidate with culinary experience, there are additional opportunities () to craft event menus, host wine/beer dinners, and help to build a business that specializes in intimate retreats and events.
Working Conditions
Hours are morning till evening / on-call overnight; weekdays are very light with busy weekends Fri through Sunday.
Onsite accommodation and all utilities included (Value: $1,600/month).
Compensation based on experience and skillset and whether you're full-time, part-time and/or part of a couple.
