Biomass Controls PBC located in Woodstock, Connecticut is an industry leader in the development of solutions for global water and sanitation challenges. We work closely with our customers to design, develop, and manufacture products from concept through production.

Job Summary:

At Biomass Controls our Test Engineers establish procedures and coordinate testing of products that are under development. They check and maintain materials, mechanical, and electrical systems to ensure that customers get high-quality, functional products. They run tests on various components and features in order to identify and fix technical issues. Experienced Test Engineers might also be responsible for training and managing junior team members. Biomass Controls’ Test Engineers inspect and report on the quality of products through the entire production cycle. Depending on the product, they may use different criteria to check quality, such as functionality, durability, safety and speed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

- Gather product requirements (e.g. key functionalities, operating parameters, safety standards)

- Draft proposals for testing programs to evaluate operating procedures

- Coordinate and perform tests at all stages of development and manufacturing process

- Inspect raw materials and machinery to identify defects and malfunctions

- Monitor all production stages to ensure safety procedures are followed

- Run quality controls on components and final products

- Develop test environments and test cases for mechanical and electrical systems

- Identify problems with new products and make recommendations to resolve issues

- Analyze test results, detect issues and track root causes

- Suggest fixes and improvements

- Document technical issues and solutions

- Build automated testing systems for regular checks

- Develop ongoing quality control testing procedures to be incorporated into the regular production process

- Ensure products and procedures meet industry standards (e.g. ISO)

- Perform other related duties as required

Required Skills/Abilities:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to discuss product issues in a constructive and positive manner

- Excellent interpersonal skills

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

- Strong mechanical, electrical, analytical and problem-solving skills

- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Suite or related software to prepare test reports and proposals

Experience requirements:

- Two or more years of related hands-on experience required

- Fabrication, assembly, and/or maintenance experience strongly preferred

Physical Requirements:

- Prolonged periods of standing, sitting at a desk, and working on a computer

- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
