Provides clinical supervision for the Psychology and Social Work training program. Provides consultative, crisis, on-call and outreach services to the campus community. Will have a general expert knowledge of mental health and psychological functioning. Will have expertise and specialization in providing counseling that is affirmative, sex-positive, culturally sensitive, consistent with risk reduction principle. Will have experience in counseling that promotes self-determination and addresses issues of culture, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and the intersection of these aspects of identities with other categories such as race, class, and religion, as well as physical functioning. Will provide targeted outreach efforts and psychoeducational programming to the general student population along with targeted populations at the College.General Duties and Responsibilities

Perform psychological evaluations and treatment as required; report and discuss results with the team and requesting clinicians.

Perform general and specialized clinical and outreach services in affirmative, sex-positive, culturally sensitive, consistent with risk reduction principles, and that promotes self-determination.

Ensure that documentation and productivity meet standards set in Student Counseling Services policy and procedure.

Provide training and supervision to clinical practicum students, and interns as needed.

Remain current in literature and treatment developments in the mental health field, especially college student mental health, and identity-focused issues.

Receive professional development as required to maintain license.

Participate in the development and updating of department policies and procedures that may affect students.

Perform administrative tasks that contribute to the functioning of the Student Counseling Services.

Participate in on-call rotation for emergency and crisis situations that pertain to students and campus life.

Collaborate with the Assistant Director to offer specific expertise regarding LGBTQIA+ identity issues to various components of the college community.

Adhere to the ethical codes of conduct appropriate to professional bodies such as the APA and other professional organizations.

Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with students, faculty and staff.

Perform departmental research; manage and provide reports.

Education and Skills

Doctoral degree in clinical psychology (Ph.D./ Psy.D) or master’s degree in related fields. APA approved/regionally approved program, and an internship that meets requirements for licensure

2-3 years of clinical experience required; experience in college mental health Demonstrated competence preferred.

Licensed to practice (or license-eligible) as a psychologist/mental health professional in the state of Connecticut.

High integrity needed to handle confidential information.

Expertise and specialization in providing counseling that is affirmative, sex-positive, culturally sensitive, consistent with risk reduction principle.

Demonstrated competence, training and experience in working with diverse clinical and multicultural and other traditionally underserved populations (multicultural competence).

Well-organized, able to work under pressure and as a member of a team.

Ability to interact well with a variety of people from all aspects of the college and community.

Excellent presentation skills and social skills.

Travel as necessary to meet the requirements of the position.
