Our mission is to provide equitable access to innovative care that improves health, recovery and growth at all stages of life.POSITION SUMMARY The Psychiatric Physician Assistant functions as a member of the Psychiatry team and applies related skills acquired through their training to the treatment of Wheeler's patient population. The selected candidates will receive continuous mentorship while providing patients with direct clinical care and engage in formal weekly educational didactics, grand rounds with CME accreditation, quality improvement projects, and receive certification and training in new and alternative modalities of treatment including Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Esketamine Therapy. Wheeler residents will leave our program with enhanced clinical skills and tools to make a lasting impact on community health. Salary: $75,000 Accepting applications through April 30th, 2024. Licensure Requirements for Clinical Positions Credential(s) Required: Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of Connecticut. Active DEA controlled substance registration and an active Connecticut controlled substance registration. Ability to acquire and maintain certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professionals no later than 90 days from date of hire. LOCATION Health centers located in New Britain, Plainville and Hartford, CT. SCHEDULE Full time starting in Fall 2024. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of Physicians, the Resident:

Conducts psychiatric evaluations and formulates accurate diagnoses in accordance with the Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM-5-TR), manages prescribed medication, performs mental status examinations, develops and presents clear clinical impressions and recommendations that are specific and attainable, providing therapeutic interventions appropriate to specific problems. Develops and documents clear clinical formulations in a timely manner.

Demonstrates a basic knowledge of psychopathology and other behavioral health concerns and effective modalities of psychotherapeutic intervention. Triages clinical emergencies and implements program specific safety and consultation protocols. Utilizes best practices and evidenced based practice models where appropriate and adheres to model and program expectations.

Demonstrates knowledge of internal and external levels of care, referral processes and resources. Makes clinically appropriate referrals for identified service needs in a timely manner.

Communicates in a positive, effective manner with client, family, and all internal and external providers. Attends any required meetings, didactics and supervision.

Meets direct service productivity goals as defined by program. Demonstrates knowledge of program/department/agency goals and target outcomes, and adheres to practice standards and to data collection and reporting protocols.

Documents all client related information in compliance with agency policy.

Attends and is prepared for scheduled supervision. Seeks additional supervision or consultation as needed and follows through with supervisory directives.

Provides service in the office and/or community settings outside of the office (e.g., homes, schools, hospitals, institutions, other community locations) as defined by the program.

Communicates in a professional, positive, and effective manner with all clients, families, and collaborating professionals.

Continues to develop knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems, and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills, and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.
