As an MOC Act, the primary function is to perform a variety of highly repetitive benchwork operations, feed/operate manual/automatic cycle machines, perform operations necessary to inspect and/or repair rules rejected, assembly and packing operations on an integrated assembly and packing system for the manufacture of finished tape rules, and highly repetitive packing operations at a bench or conveyor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Perform assembly and packing operations at work stations of assembly and packing systems.
Hook spring stock to tape rule blade at manual assembly station
Pack finished product at packing station, load product to packing station or pack into appropriate containers; insert printed matter, tape and stamp product or boxes as required
Place parts on bench or in fixture to perform operations
Load magazines, hoppers, rotary tables or place parts in fixture or die and activate machine to perform operation, if not on automatic cycle
Remove completed work into appropriate container if not ejected automatically or stack on bench or skid
Set aside obvious defective parts
Perform a variety of packing operations and set aside obvious defects
Pack product in appropriate containers or load rotary tables of packing machines; insert printed matter, tape and stamp product or boxes as required
May perform simple gauging as directed to maintain quality
Carton finished product and pile as directed or roll down conveyor system
Remove empty boxes or trays to truck or skid
Receive rules inspect, disassemble, replace or repair parts as specified such as blade, spring, case, hook, necessary to put back into first quality condition
Maintain own supply of parts and make out rejection slips as required
Gauge and visually check as required
Load parts in hoppers as required
Clear jams in system, reset stations for operations after fault
Perform necessary handling requirements of the job and maintain a clean and orderly work area
Compliance to all plant policies: Health & Safety, Environmental and OSHA, Quality, etc.
Escalate unusual issues to supervisor
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Basic mechanical ability, machine set-up/operation experience preferred
Ability to perform basic math – add, subtract, multiply whole numbers, fractions and decimals
Basic ability to read, write and communicate in English
Desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge
Strong orientation toward quality, safety and continuous improvement demonstrated by a work history:
Of safe performance,
Of accuracy and attention to detail in the work performed, and
Of constructive problem solving and suggestions for improvement
Demonstrated ability to effectively implement or respond to change
Understanding and support of Company policies and procedures
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to continuously perform grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and walking
Must be able to handle continuous standing 8-10 hours daily
Must be able to perform frequent lifting up to 30 lbs independently and up to 70 lbs with assistance.
Must be able to work in an environment with various changing temperatures for portions of the year.
Must be able to work daily and weekly overtime as required.
