GENERAL PURPOSE Repairs and maintains small engine equipment, both gas and 2-cycle. Includes: Toro, Husqvarna, Stihl, Briggs and Stratton, Tecumseh, Lawn-boy and Kohler equipment. Various other brands will be required. Maintains equipment inventory and equipment maintenance records.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Responsible for maintenance and repair of small engines, both gas and 2-cycle, including hydraulic equipmentResponsible for sharpening all types of mowers and chainsaw chainsPerforms preventative maintenance work, such as checking oil and fluid levels on all equipmentComputer skills for looking up parts and creating/maintaining work ordersCustomer serviceAbility to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment with accuracy and speed, ability to create effective working relationships with employees; ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Graduation from a standard high school and five (5) year work experience in the operation repair and maintenance of small equipment, both 2-cycle and gasoline type engines and hydraulic equipment. Minimum five (5) year of vocational engine mechanics preferred. REFERENCES REQUIRED.
Specific requirements
Must possess a valid Connecticut Driver's License and have reliable transportation
Must be willing to obtain Stihl, Briggs & Stratton, Husqvarna, & Kohler engine licensing
Working knowledge of safety practices and procedures while making mechanical repairs; knowledge of various lawn care equipment
