APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITY – RESTORATION CARPENTRY
Immediate Opening
We are offering an entry level apprenticeship position in restoration woodworking for immediate hire, ideal for individuals passionate about historic preservation and skilled craftsmanship. This is an in-shop position focused on restoring and fabricating historic wood elements, such as window sashes, doors, shutters, railings, and more. No on-site work is required.
Ideal candidates will have some experience in:
Window sash repair or fabrications
Working with machine tools such as jointers, planers, table saws, routers, sanders, etc.
Artistic skills such as glazing, putty work, or clay modeling
Apprenticeship Duties:
Disassemble and restore historic wood elements: stripping, sanding, prepping, and reassembly
Lead-safe work in a containment area (full PPE provided)
Make woodworking repairs, epoxy repairs, and fabricate replacement parts to match original designs
Create historically accurate wood components for sashes, doors, and shutters
Compensation & Growth:
Starting pay: $18/hour
Pay increases as skills and proficiency grow
Monthly classes on woodworking, glazing, restoration techniques, and more to enhance your learning experience
Hands-on experience in a professional restoration shop
Requirements:
Must be detail-oriented, responsible, and able to work independently
Comfort with hand and power tools is essential
English proficiency required
Willingness to follow lead-safe protocols and wear provided protective equipment
Position Details:
Contract-based position
30–40 hours/week
Pay increases based on skill development and expertise
