This position offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge statistical research projects focusing on multiplicity adjustment and adaptive study design. The selected candidate will collaborate with experienced statisticians and researchers in a dynamic and supportive environment.How You Will Contribute:

Assist in the design, implementation, and analysis of statistical models for clinical trials.

Conduct literature reviews and contribute to the development of innovative statistical methodologies.

Perform data analysis using SAS and R programming languages.

Communicate findings and results effectively through written reports and oral presentations.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support ongoing research initiatives.

Proactively seek opportunities for professional development and knowledge enhancement.

Internship Development Opportunities:The Summer Intern can expect to gain several key skills and insights from this internship, including:

Applied Statistical Techniques in Clinical Research: Exposure to real-world applications of advanced statistical methods and innovative adaptive designs.

Hands-on Experience with Simulation Modeling: Practical experience in designing and conducting statistical simulations to assess trial design decisions, understand sensitivity analysis, and explore study scenarios. This will include setting up, interpreting, and communicating findings from these simulations.

Insight into Regulatory and Compliance Standards: An understanding of how regulatory guidelines shape statistical analyses in clinical trials, particularly how to align with FDA standards and present data to meet regulatory expectations.

Collaboration in a Cross-functional Environment: Experience working alongside statisticians, clinical researchers, and regulatory experts, learning how to communicate statistical insights to a non-technical audience and integrate statistical considerations into broader project goals.

Development of Critical Review Skills: The intern will engage with complex literature, such as MNAR methodology papers, building their ability to critically review and synthesize advanced statistical research.

Project and Time Management: An opportunity to manage a project with specific timelines and deliverables, helping to refine time management, organization, and prioritization skills critical for success in industry roles.

Professional Communication Skills: Improvement in presenting complex statistical concepts clearly and concisely, both in written and verbal formats, an essential skill in professional settings.

These experiences will provide the intern with a strong foundation for a career in biostatistics, particularly within the clinical trial and pharmaceutical industry.

Job Requirements:

This is a remote position

Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Statistics or Biostatistics, with preference given to candidates in their 3rd or 4th year of study.

Demonstrated research experience in multiplicity adjustment and adaptive design in clinical trials.

Proficiency in SAS and R programming languages for data manipulation and statistical analysis.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Self-motivated individual with a proactive approach to problem-solving and project management.

Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.

Internship Eligibility

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship

Must be currently enrolled in a degree program graduating December 2025 or later

The internship program is 10-12 weeks depending on the two start dates (June 2nd- August 29th) or (June 16th - August 22nd

The intern must be able to commit to one of these time frames

Able to work full time 40 hours a week during internship dates

Takeda does not provide a housing stipend or relocation support for the U.S Summer Internship Program

The actual hourly wage offered will depend on the candidate’s school year/level to be entered following completion of internship. The actual hourly wage offered will be in accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for the job location.U.S. internship benefits vary by location and may include:
