OverviewLocation: Divisional Headquarters, Finance Department (Hartford, CT) Status: Non-exempt, Full-time Hours Per Week: 37.5 Schedule: Mon-Fri; 8:30 am – 4:00 pm (includes two 15-minute paid breaks per day) Scope & Purpose of Position: Process income from all Corps and Area Services into the accounting package while adhering to The Salvation Army’s accounting policies and procedures. Responsibilities
Apply accounting principles and practices following standardized, well-established procedures, regulations, and guidelines.
Institute safeguards to ensure the integrity and maintenance of the accounting system.
Assist Corps Officers with the preparation of financial-related materials for audits.
Assist in month-end closing procedures.
Input financial-related data into computer systems and maintain financial reports and records related to programs.
Maintain and oversee the maintenance of financial documents (weekly income sheets, deposit tickets, kettle collections, etc.).
Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
Record and post income into the computer system and generate income receipts received. Corps Officers will be responsible for recording income, making bank deposits, and distributing receipts generated.
Provide coverage for the Accounts Payable Clerks.
Qualifications
Associate degree in Accounting/Business Management or three years of experience is highly preferred.
Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
Should be well organized, show strong initiative, and adequate follow through.
Valid driver’s license that meets The Salvation Army insurance requirements.
