As an Area Warehouse Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operations of multiple warehouses within a designated area. Your primary goal will be to ensure the timely receipt, storage, and distribution of goods while maintaining a high level of accuracy, safety, and cost-effectiveness. You will lead a team of warehouse staff, monitor inventory levels, optimize warehouse layouts, and implement best practices to achieve operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Warehouse Operations Management:
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of multiple warehouses within the area.
Ensure the accurate and efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
2. Team Leadership:
Recruit, train, and develop warehouse staff, including supervisors, forklift operators, and general laborers.
Set performance expectations, provide feedback, and conduct regular performance evaluations.
Foster a positive and collaborative work culture.
3. Inventory Management:
Monitor and control inventory levels to prevent overstocking or understocking.
Implement inventory management systems and conduct regular audits to ensure accuracy.
Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to optimize stock levels.
4. Efficiency Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in warehouse operations.
Implement lean methodologies and best practices to enhance efficiency.
Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success.
5. Health and Safety Compliance:
Enforce safety protocols and procedures to create a secure working environment.
Conduct safety training and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
6. Quality Assurance:
Implement quality control processes to minimize errors and product damage.
Collaborate with quality assurance teams to meet product quality standards.
7. Vendor and Customer Relations:
Communicate effectively with suppliers, carriers, and customers to resolve issues and ensure timely deliveries.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
8. Budget and Cost Management:
Develop and manage the warehouse budget, including labor, equipment, and maintenance expenses.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to stay within budget.
9. Reporting and Documentation:
Generate regular reports on warehouse performance, including inventory levels, order fulfillment, and operational efficiency.
Maintain accurate records of all warehouse activities.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience in warehouse management, with a minimum of 3-5 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control software.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations and compliance.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Forklift certification (if applicable).
Willingness to work flexible hours when necessary.
