Overview: Quinnipiac University seeks a dynamic and dedicated individual for the position of Assistant Director of Academic and Career Advising for the School of Business. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing integrated academic and career advising to support and enhance the academic and career development of undergraduate and graduate business students. This position involves active engagement in advising processes, coordinating events, and ensuring an enriching student experience. Provide comprehensive academic advising to undergraduate and graduate students in course selection and academic policy to support retention and ensure completion of program degree requirements.
Participate in the academic component of first year and transfer student orientation sessions ensuring first-year and transfer students' onboarding experiences are positive
Provide integrated career and academic advising to first and second-year undergraduate students; provide comprehensive advising to graduate.
Collaborate with various campus departments such as the Learning Commons, Inclusive Excellence and Office of Student Accessibility to ensure successful student recovery and outcomes.
Career Advising:
Guide students in career exploration, planning, and decision-making processes.
Assist students with resume writing, job search strategies, interview preparation, and networking opportunities.
Enhancing Student Experience:
Manage the School of Business Student Ambassador Program, participate in all Admissions events, and recruit student volunteers. Develop and implement programs and initiatives aimed at improving the overall student experience, both academically and professionally.
Coordinate workshops, seminars, and events that promote academic success, career readiness, and personal development.
Assist in the expansion of QU Academy for business courses.
Event Coordination:
Plan, organize, and execute workshops and events that promote professionalism, networking, and academic and professional ‘grit.’
Manage event logistics, including marketing, registration, venue setup, and post-event evaluations
Data Management and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of advising interactions and student progress.
Develop and maintain academic plan sheets, training material, and assist in maintaining the student resource SharePoint.
Prepare regular reports on advising activities, student outcomes, and program effectiveness.
Utilize data to inform and improve advising practices and student support services.
Teaching: Teach one course per semester as needed

Education Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required
Master's Degree preferred
Qualifications:
Strong understanding of academic programs, career services, and student development theories with the proven ability to apply student development and learning outcomes.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Proven ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and a commitment to promoting inclusivity.
Experience in event planning and coordination of programs and events.
Proficiency in using advising and career services software and technology; specifically Microsoft Office and a Learning Management Software system (e.g. Blackboard).
Ability to work independently and take initiative as well as to work in a collaborative team.
Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
