Associate Materials Scientist

The Associate Scientist provides laboratory support in synthesizing salt forms of drug candidates and polymorphs, evaluates these forms for acceptability as drug substance as it relates to chemical manufacturing and formulation into pharmaceutical products, and is responsible for writing sections of reports for regulatory submissions.  The position is based in Groton, CT (USA).Role Responsibilities:Support multidisciplinary project teams and collaborate with colleagues to define and implement crystallization, polymorph, and salt screening activities according to project timelines.Conduct solid state physical and chemical characterization of small molecules of pharmaceutical relevance.  This includes particle characterization (e.g., particle size, shape) and solid state characterization (e.g., spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, thermal analysis).Collaborate with colleagues in Medicinal Chemistry, Formulation and Biopharmaceutics to define and implement screening and characterization strategies consistent with solid form selection.Solve scientific problems using contemporary Materials Science experimental techniques.Contribute to the development of new scientific approaches and knowledge within the global Materials Science organization.
