Description Continuing Medical Education SpecialistFull-time, 40 hours; Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pmSummary:The CME Specialist is responsible for the management of planning, development, design and compliance for all CME activities in accordance with American Medical Association (AMA) requirements for accredited providers, Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) essentials and guidelines for accreditation and the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY). The position requires a comprehensive and detailed understanding of ACCME accreditation policies and procedures including activity development and certification. It requires a high degree of initiative and independent judgment. The CME specialist serves as a primary resource for CME activities for physicians, course directors, activity coordinators, and as a liaison to the healthcare community and invited faculty.Responsibilities:1.Review available resources (e.g. electronic education documentation system (eeds)) and/or identify resources needed to support the effective organization, communication and reporting of Nuvance Health CME program accreditation data to meet emerging ACCME/MSSNY requirements.2.Serve as liaison with Clinical and Administrative Leadership in the following areas: Quality, Information Technology, Risk, Compliance, Legal and Medical Staff Leadership, as it pertains to Continuing Medical Education Activities.3.Work with Course Directors, faculty, and other key stakeholders to identify professional development needs related to accreditation and education, curriculum development and implementation for varied clinical service areas.4.Oversight and development of annual offerings for CME activities across the Nuvance Health network.5.Provide leadership and management, including orientation and on-going support, for course directors/coordinators.6.Work with Director, Continuing Medical Education to provide opportunities for staff development related to, accreditation, education, and process improvement.7.Manage the CME application process, including content validation, and CME Committee approvals8.Actively liaise with the ACCME, MSSNY, eeds and other relevant organizations to ensure institutional compliance and efficiency.9.Manage the coordination of Nuvance Health CME sponsored regional conferences for quality and compliance.10.Manages, develops and distributes marketing of CME activities as appropriate to the content and audience, for both quality and compliance.11.Manages activities and specific related budgets, facilitating improvement of income opportunities and the allocation and payment of corresponding expenses.12.Travel to, attend and/or present at internal, local, region and national events to support ongoing professional development opportunities.13.Maintain contemporary professional knowledge and education.14.Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance15.Performs other duties as required and assignedEducation and Experience Requirements:
Degree from a regionally accredited educational institution or equivalent experience.
Continuing medical education experience at the program or institutional level in an Academic Medical Center or an ACCME accredited CME program.
