Wildfire mitigation/landscaping crew.Each day, you will be a part of a 3-4 man crewworking primarily on multiple acre propertiesthroughout Durango and La Plata county cutting shrubs, trimminglow hanging limbs, and remove entire trees in order to create wildfire defensible spaces around homes and communities. The work is basically "Landscaping for Wildfire Defense". As a member of our wildfire mitigation team, your work will help safeguard people and property by removing and reducing potential forest fuels. This is a full-time seasonal position that runs from April through mid-November, depending on weather, so it aligns perfectly with winter work at the ski resorts. We work throughout the Durango area and all of La Plata county and into Pagosa Springs. The workday begins on the work-site at 9:00am and we begin loading up equipment about 4:00pm. We try to keep the work to 4 days a week as this is very physical work in forested mountain areas and we want everyone on the team to be well rested. With our Safe & Sane work schedule, you'll have ample time to play in the mountains and enjoy the summer. And while you won’t be working on active fires, if you have skills as a seasoned wildland firefighter, they will serve you well as you create defensible spaces that give firefighters a tactical advantage. As an added bonus, you won't be breathing smoke all day, but you will still be doing meaningful and important work.

Preferably, we're looking for someone that has chainsaw and tree felling experience. However, if you can keep up with the crew, have experience performing hard physical work outdoors and have some experience with chainsaws, brush cutters, trail and/or landscaping work, please apply.
Pay depends on experience and we offer ample opportunity to increase your wage and grow professionally. Pay range is $19 to $25 hour. Stay with us through the season performing quality work and there will be a bonus!
