For 20+ Years, Fire Smart has provided wildfire mitigation services to private property owners in and around Durango. We are looking for qualified sawyers to join our mitigation crew in 2025.
Required:

-Great physical ability and endurance. This work can be very strenuous and it can be a grind. Hard work shouldn't bother you.
-Safety awareness. This work can be very dynamic, technical and dangerous.
-Ability to work well with a team. We communicate to keep each other safe, and to be efficient and productive.
-Ability to learn. We want you to know as many aspects of the work as soon as safely possible. This means that you will need to be able to learn new skills.
-We are willing to train motivated applicants.
Considered but not required:
-Experience in tree work or wildfire mitigation.
-Experience in wildfire suppression.
-Chainsaw experience and or certifications.
-Experience in trail work and/or outdoor labor.
-Mitigation Specialist and/or Home ignition Zone certification.
This is a seasonal position that begins now and ends in November depending on Weather. Our crew works Mondays thru Thursdays and usually gets 30-32 hours a week. Full time applicants who can commit to the entire season are preferred.
Compensation starts at $22-$26/hour DOE + a $3/hour end of season bonus for quality work. We also offer paid sick leave benefits and paid family leave. Highly qualified applicants start at $28/hour.
