Overview
Cimarron Engineering (cimarron-engineering.com) is a structural engineering and septic system design and installation firm with a primary focus in residential and small commercial construction. Cimarron engineering is based out of Southwest CO and has an office in Ridgway.
To improve our capabilities and efficiency Cimarron Engineering is looking to hire a full-time intern for the 2024 summer building season. Are you a self-motivated individual that would like to be a part of a team creating quality designs in the small communities around Southwestern Colorado? If so, this internship will provide you with an opportunity to learn how to problem solve and work on a wide range of projects within the custom residential and septic construction business.
All the following duties listed will be taught and the intern is not expected to be independently capable of completing the work.
Job Duties
- Prepare and review engineering drawings using AutoCAD LT under supervision of an experienced professional engineer.
- Perform structural and wastewater calculations in custom built spreadsheets to back check the drafting design.
- Organize documentation within the workflow and structure of the company organization.
- (If local) Provide on-site inspections to compare the as-built construction to the design.
Knowledge to Bring
Preferrable
- Familiarity of light frame construction as used in standard residential construction.
- Knowledge of basic 2D structural and load path analysis.
- Basic college courses: Design of reinforced concrete, structural steel design, geotechnical engineering design, structural analysis 1.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including: Excel, Word, OneNote, OneDrive
Essential
- Good communication skills including verbal and email.
- Ability and willingness to learn.
Compensation
- $17.50 - $18.50 per hour depending on experience.
- Drive time for site inspections is included if the candidate is local.
- Bonus based on the gross earning of the projects that the candidate has worked on.
