Lead Teacher in PreK Classroom
PURPOSE: The Lead Teacher in the PreK Preschool Room is responsible for making sure the room follows all state regulations and provides quality, developmentally appropriate guidance and activities for the children that prepare them for being successful in kindergarten.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be teacher qualified for the State of Colorado, Department of Early Childhood
Ability to communicate with a variety of people and be supportive of different families and cultures
Ability to problem solve quickly
Be flexible and able to shift gears and go with the flow as needed
Ability to lift children and also get up and down from the floor
Ability to work with the director and staff as a team player
An abundance of creativity, enthusiasm, patience and love for children
Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment
Experience and skills in parenting issues
SUPERVISION: Reports to the Director of Summit Early Learning Center
WORK WEEK: Approximately 40 hours
POSITION CLASSIFICATION: Full-time
COMPENSATION: Hourly Starting at $17.25 -$22.78 depending on experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan (with written documentation), prepare and implement daily activities that address all developmental areas including: gross and fine motor skills, cognitive, emotional, social and spiritual. Keep in mind the scope and sequence of developmentally appropriate activities for children who will transition to kindergarten
Interact with the children and model loving and appropriate behaviors for children and parents
Communicate regularly with director regarding goals for children, developmental and emotional issues, curriculum, discipline, health concerns and room maintenance concerns
Create and maintain a room environment that is stimulating, developmentally appropriate, safe, clean, organized, and comfortable
Supervise the arrival and dismissal of children and communicate with parents
Oversee and be responsible for the duties of an aide if one is needed
Maintain appropriate records on children (developmental screenings, accident reports, assessments, etc.)
Maintain some form of regular communication with parents regarding things that are happening in the classroom, i.e., newsletter, Lillio App, etc
Work with 9R and other area schools to facilitate a smooth transition for children to go to kindergarten
Attend staff meetings, stay current on CPR and 1st Aide, Mandatory Reporting, Standard Precautions and have 15 hours of appropriate continuing education each calendar year
Help facilitate our Christmas program
Help facilitate PreK graduation
