Job: Assistant Brewer
Type: Part Time (Mon-Wed) to start. May pick up more days if needed later.
Pay: Hourly $20-25/hr (depends on experience)
Job Description:
We are seeking an assistant brewer to help our brewmaster and head brewer in the day-to-day manufacturing, quality control, organization, and packaging of our products. This role requires many hours of 'on the job' training and learning.
Responsibilities. Items to be proficient in within first 6 months.
- adhere to all safety rules and processes everyday.
- following cleaning and sanitization procedures set forth by Angry James.
- effectively able to brew on your own.
- use quality control methods in all aspects of making beer.
- operate CIP (clean in place) practices with ease on a daily basis.
- able to operate all equipment (including canning line, and keg washer) without supervision.
- run a forklift.
- take inventory.
- organize brewery and coldroom to make everything run smoothly.
- communicate beer descriptions, inventory, and other information about our beer to bartenders effectively.
- clean and sanitize draft lines every two weeks.
Requirements:
- Must already live or plan to live in Summit County when considering this role.
- Previous brewery experience is helpful.
- have at least 3 references we may contact during the interview process.
- always bring a strong work ethic and positive attitude to work.
- able to work Mon-Wed (24-30 hours/wk)
- must be 21 years old.
- must have consistent and reliable means of transportation to get to and from work each day.
- able to deadlift 165 lb full kegs many times a day.
- comfortable working in cold and wet environments for long periods of time.
- able to stand, crouch, and kneel for long periods of time throughout the day.
- have some knowledge of brewing processes, brewing ingredients, beer flavor/aroma profiles.
- able to adapt to changing situations without getting overwhelmed.
Salary & Benefits:
Starting pay is $20/hr as an hourly employee. After training is completed, you will qualify for increased hourly wage based on performance. Training duration can range anywhere from 3-6 months. Training period is determined by our Head Brewer.
Vacation: 10 days paid time off after 6 months of employment. Vacation time taken within the first 6 months will be LWOP (leave without pay)
Health & Wellness Pass: after 6 months of employment, you will qualify for an annual $500 bonus to use towards a health and wellness membership of your choice - this can include, gym membership, partial ski pass reimbursement, yoga classes, etc.
Insurance: after 6 months of employment, if your are ‘full time’ status (30 hrs minimum/wk) we offer to cover 50% or up to $250 per month of your health insurance costs.
