This role is an excellent opportunity to learn more about caring for hospitalized patients that are under the care of various specialists. This diverse role is a great learning opportunity for someone interested in growing into an ICU/Critical Care Technician.This position is expected to work overnight Monday-Thursday 10p-8a. Schedules are subject to change based on the needs of the Hospital and Department. Training days/hours TBD.This position will pay $22-$32 hourly DOEWE ARE OFFERING A $1000 SIGNING BONUS FOR THIS ROLE! Essential Job Responsibilities: Overall Responsibility: The Intermediate Ward Technician’s primary responsibility is to provide care for the hospitalized patients that are deemed stable according to the veterinarian’s evaluation and AESC’s defined levels of hospitalization. This individual will assess patients and facilitate treatments under the direction of the supervising veterinarian. They will have excellent communication with the supervising veterinarian and address concerns with the patients as they arise. The Intermediate Ward Technician is expected to work with all doctors, technicians, and assistants to perform diagnostics and execute treatment plans for the hospitalized patient.

Provides excellent patient care to every hospitalized patient.

Assist veterinarians with exams, treatments and procedures that need to be done.

Perform standard technician duties including patient restraint, venipuncture, SQ Fluids, radiographs, medication administration as ordered by a veterinarian, obtain and process laboratory samples, handle and dispense medications by veterinarian orders.

Collaborate with all departments across the hospital to ensure that all patients receive the best possible patient care.

Immediately respond to and assist with STAT calls and follow the appropriate patient care protocols.

Maintain accurate paperless medical records utilizing EzyVet and Smartflow.

Demonstrate working knowledge of medical and financial practices, including creating estimates and discussing with the owners, collecting payment, and discharging patients.

Demonstrate compassion and care in all interactions.

Attending department and staff meetings.

Contribute to the overall needs, cleanliness, and organization of the hospital.

Perform sedation and anesthesia according to established hospital protocols (induction, maintenance, monitoring and recovery).

Other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent required. At least 1 year of Veterinary Technician experience required. Colorado Registered Veterinary Technician or the ability to become registered upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications: At least one year Veterinary Technician experience in an Emergency or Specialty Practice.

Skill Requirements: Strong technical skills to provide excellent and efficient patient care. Ability to multitask and anticipate needs. Excellent communication skills in all areas including clients, staff, and leadership. Great work ethic and positive attitude. Ability to adhere to strict attendance policies. Ability to handle fluctuation in caseload and emergency situations.

Physical Requirements: This job is physically active and requires frequent bending, standing, routine lifting and restraining of animals that exceed 50lbs.
