This OpportunityWSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Project Manager for our Lakewood, CO office. Scope of this role will be focused on areas such as mine engineering design, permitting, field, investigations, desktop analyses, numerical modeling, permitting, studies, research, etc. This role will work closely with technical managers and ensure the correct delivery of projects within the assigned business.Your ImpactGENERAL

Acts as the single point of contact for the project.

Manages/oversees the project under the client’s Terms and Conditions which have been negotiated prior.

Takes projects from original concept through final implementation.

Oversees various moderately-complex projects without the oversight of another Project Manager and minimal oversight from technical teams.

Responsible for assembling project/task teams and assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed. Given the complexity of the project, these teams could be larger, multi-disciplinary, and may reside in various regions or countries.

Develops the project scope and objectives, as well as clarify the role and function of each team member in order to effectively coordinate the activities of the team.

Determine when adaptability and flexibility are required in the development of project scope with multiple disciplines, subcontractors and consulting partners.

Identifies, monitors, and mitigates risk on projects where the client may not have a full understanding of the project risks.

Exhibits role model behaviors related to HSSE, business needs, and team development.

CONSULTATION

Acts as primary client contact throughout the entirety of the project.

Provides timely guidance and communication to entire project team on related project level issues. This team can include several task leads and project staff as it is generally more complex.

Manages quality of the project, which can be complex as the Project Manager is working on projects addressing several unrelated disciplines.

Liaise regularly with project Technical Managers, Project Director, technical teams, internal accounting teams, and external clients.

Keep Project Director regularly informed on status of project.

Work with internal and external stakeholders to continually reassess project.

Proactively informs functional management of the status of the project.

Manages a remote team in various time zones, depending on location of the project.

Influences and affects change within the project team when required.

INTEGRATION

Takes lead in development of proposals, including the development of the ROA. This may be carried out in collaboration with Technical Leads.

Manages the project according to the approach outlined in Golder Global Procedure 1, Project Delivery Manual.

Oversees the preparation of the project execution plan, reflective of project complexity by the Project Coordinator.

Plans the execution of the project and monitors performance according to the project execution plan and the contract terms and conditions.Manages project closure aspects ensuring correct project documentation, facilitating lessons learned workshops, and obtaining client feedback, sub-consultant/contractor evaluations and project experience profiles.

Ensures project team (including sub-consultants/contractors) have understood and continually reassess the HSSE requirements of the project.Identifies and mitigates risks/hazards typical of moderate complexity projects. Project can be located in medium/high risk countries.

Aware of international HSSE standards and limitations in country of project work.

Manages projects with up to five technical disciplines involved; project teams can include up to 20 members as well as up to six subcontractors.

Manages projects involving up to four Golder offices, three Operating Companies, and several countries, with less than a 6-hour time zone difference.

SCOPE AND SCHEDULE

Develops the project scope statement and Work Breakdown Structure.

Develops and ensures adherence to the project schedule.

Supervises change request activities by appropriately addressing anticipated scope changes as they evolve and can advise others on scope change.

Creates a work breakdown structure and project schedule of medium complexity using scheduling software, if necessary.

Regularly communicates with client related to change orders within the scope of the project.

Updates the project schedule as needed baseline and producing recovery plans as required.

Responsible for outlining method of Earned Value Management and subsequent communication with Client and internal stakeholders.

Assesses and predicts the possible impacts of schedule changes and the time management outcomes for future project impacts.

Applies effective organizational and priority management skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze factors that influence the Project Critical Path and consider alternative scheduling linkages and dependencies.

Discusses and manages schedule changes with external stakeholders.

Utilizes the schedule for resource planning and management (e.g. float assessment and resource levelling).

COST

Creates a project budget using appropriate tools (e.g. CostAid) for a project with gross revenue less than US$2,000,000.

Constantly has awareness of the financial impact of the project to the business.

Develops a multi-disciplinary project budget and interacts with subcontractors and partners to develop the project budget.

Oversees and manages project budgets and expenditures, including forecasting, typically for scopes less than $USD 2M.

Assigns project budgets to task leaders and manages their performance.

Ensures compliance with client invoicing requirements and timely payment.

Ensures that Day Sales Outstanding (DSO) targets on each project are met, as per Golder requirements.

PROCUREMENT

Responsible for project contracts and other documentation for sub-consultants, contractors and vendors.

Actively manages procurement contracts and eliminating/reducing risk to Golder for likely several subcontractors, suppliers, vendors and operating companies.

Oversees internal work carried out under Basic Work Orders (BWOs).

Develops a procurement plan for medium complexity projects, using established selection processes, criteria, and appropriate communication to ensure fair competition.

Evaluates responses from potential suppliers and selects preferred supplier in accordance with agreed selection processes.

Conducts negotiations with the preferred contractor or supplier to agree on delivery criteria and contract terms and conditions or works with internal procurement professionals to ensure this occurs.

PROJECT DOCUMENTATION

Responsible for regular progress reports for the client, the project team and other internal and external stakeholders.

Establishes the protocol for the document control system, and continually reassessing requirements for a moderately complex project.

Responsible for the submission of deliverables to the Client.

Identifies project risks and ongoing management of the risks appropriate for a moderately complex project.

Who You AreRequired Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science, Environmental, Business or related discipline.

Minimum of twelve 5-7 years of consulting and/or project management experience.

Demonstrated experience with project financial tracking, and change management related to scopes of work;

Required: understanding and adherence to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMI).

Experience in identifying and mitigating against project risks and developing risk registers.

Expertise in project planning, numerical tracking and analysis (e.g., using MS Excel or similar programs).

Highly organized, adaptable, a developing leader, and calm under pressure.

Experience in managing multi-discipline teams.

Proven focus on the management of clients and subcontractors.

PMI Project Management Professional or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the use of MS Project and/or P6 Primavera LI
