Job Description:Network administration for distributed networks with Windows and Linux servers, including installation, operation, and maintenance of software, wired and wireless infrastructure, switches and networked servers, and monitoring status and condition of all network devices and servers. Configure and deploy tools to identify and address specific vulnerabilities or failures. Responsible for network device and network switch lifecycle management, vulnerability monitoring, threat assessment and patch management. Evaluate information system logs, virus and attack reports, security exploit reports, and other security information. Perform system diagnostics and troubleshooting, including analysis of ongoing performance, systems slowdowns, and bottlenecks. Investigate alternatives and research development of strategic implementations of network components; recommend network solutions for short-, medium-, and long-range network projects, documenting plans and actions taken.
  • Monitoring and administration of network infrastructure: Requires collection and analysis of device logs for indications of failure, flaws or intrusions.
  • Design, build and maintain datacenters on all campuses. Design, build and maintain data lines between datacenters and Internet Service providers.
  • Monitoring and administration of server virtualization infrastructure: Requires collection and analysis of device logs for indications of failure, flaws or intrusions.
  • Design, build and maintain servers and datacenters on all campuses for high availability and stable environment to maintain business continuity and for a quality instructional environment.
  • Monitoring and administration of physical computing infrastructure: Requires collection and analysis of device logs for indications of failure, flaws or intrusions. Planning, schedule of maintenance, and lifecycle replacement of switches, physical servers and datastores in the datacenters on all campuses.
  • Requires collection and analysis of system logs for indications of failure, flaws or intrusions. Collaborate with CSO, CIO, and TechServices to provide a secure and trustworthy computing environment.
  • Monitoring and administration of user account provisioning system: Requires collection and analysis of logs for indications of failure. Maintain software and adjust configurations as needed for correct operation.
  • Administration of Active Directory
  • Maintain backup infrastructure including Veeam backups, backup copies, and replication, storage replication, local and remote database backups. Assist database administrators as needed.
  • Support & Train Technical Services techs: Complex desktop support for operating system issues that Technical Support Specialists are unable to diagnose or support. Provide training in complex systems to help TSS provide better support to their customers
  • Documentation of systems, infrastructure and processes: On going recording of description, configuration and operational practices of systems, software, and infrastructure to provide traceability, improve troubleshooting of problems and provide job succession.

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework but must be on campus a few days each week.

Minimum Qualifications:Associates Degree in Computer Science, Networking or related area plus 2 years’ experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fiber, wired, and wireless networks and multiple server environments operating numerous software applications, server operating systems, and computers in a complex, distributed data center and network environment. Extensive knowledge of Windows systems administration and Linux systems administration, Active Directory administration, database administration, and network testing and monitoring procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • VMware experience
  • Network storage device experience
  • Firewall configuration and maintenance experience
  • Networking, administration certifications
  • Experience with any of these systems: Palo Alto, Aruba, Extreme, Brocade, F5

Minimum Payment Amount:$66,474.00 The hiring range for full-time positions is based on qualifications, experience and internal equity and one can earn up to 5% above the minimum salary stated in the job posting. Employees in these positions may be asked to participate in temporary assignments lasting less than 6 months (such as curriculum development, short term projects, meetings and substitute duties) which could amount to additional temporary pay.
