We seek dedicated people who believe they have the skills and ambition to succeed at NREL to apply for this role.Job DescriptionThe National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Communications Office is seeking a personable, energetic, and detail-oriented individual to join our internal Video Services Team. This position will provide videography and editing support to the rest of the lab and to external stakeholders. The successful candidate must exhibit creativity, initiative, independent thinking, and the ability to successfully meet various stakeholder requests.While hybrid work is anticipated for this role, the ability to be on-site regularly and the ability to travel are integral to this role. The successful candidate must be living locally (relocation benefit available). Travel for this role is anticipated to be between 25%-50%.Duties & Responsibilities

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop successful video content

Manage each video project from start to finish, including providing project estimates, creating project timelines, scheduling shoots, etc.

Write short scripts for educational and/or promotional videos

Film events, lectures, meetings, and presentations

Record both in-person and virtual interviews and serve as an interviewee, as needed

Edit a wide variety of footage into final, polished video products

Follow organizational brand guidelines

Organize all video assets for use by other team members

Work in a remote/virtual environment

Adhere to lab safety protocols and procedures

Support social media team needs and channels.

Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience, including reviewing the work of others and providing feedback.

Represent the video team in various meetings across the office such as Content Collaboration or Editorial meetings.

Participate in trainings for the Communications office on video processes and procedures.

.Basic QualificationsRelevant Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Master's Degree and 3 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant PhD or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant JD or equivalent relevant education/experience. Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Considerable knowledge of laws, regulations, principles, procedures and practices related to specific field. Strong leadership, project management and problem solving skills. Ability to use various computer software programs. Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.Additional Required Qualifications

Experience with using digital asset management systems.

Considerable knowledge of creative, video/multimedia principles and practices.

Ability to write concise, creative, and informative video scripts

Experience translating complex, technical information into accessible and dynamic video content

Strong leadership, project management and problem-solving skills.

Ability to craft a cohesive, yet concise story from interview footage and b-roll

Ability to produce videos within a compressed timeline, when necessary

Ability to juggle multiple projects at once

Experience interviewing subjects

Experience filming live events

Experience with successfully lighting a subject in a variety of settings

Ability to problem-solve/troubleshoot throughout the production process

Ability to work both independently and as a team

Awareness of new video trends and approaches

Experience shooting video/recording audio with a DSLR camera, as well as other camera types (e.g., GoPros, professional camcorders)

Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, Adobe Media Encoder, and Adobe Bridge

Experience with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator

Working knowledge of Zoom and Microsoft Teams

Ability/willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.

Ability to carry videography gear including cameras, tripods, lights, and stands for varying distances. Approximately 45lbs total.

Experience with using digital asset management systems.

Preference will be given to candidates with:

Experience with Adobe After Effects, Adobe Character Animate

Ability to work on non-video projects, such as design products, animation, and photography

Experience with drone operations (certified pilot or other applicable experience)
