Construction Heavy Equipment Operator

We are currently accepting applications for Heavy Equipment Operators, Mainly: large excavators, loaders, medium and mini excavators and skid-steers.

JOB PURPOSE

Heavy Civil, Underground Utilities and Commercial Construction.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Familiar with and able to effectively read blueprints

Can read and properly interpret survey grade stakes

Experience in underground utility construction a plus

Ability to effectively operate equipment in a safe manner at all times, in an effort to eliminate damage and injury when excavating in the vicinity of underground utilities (communication, power, natural gas, water, etc.)

Use of hand tools (shovel, wrench, string line, etc.) as needed.

Use of power tools (demolition saw, compaction equipment, generators, air compressors, laser level, pipe level etc.) as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS and EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred, not required

Reliable transportation required.

Mechanical aptitude a plus.

Specialized knowledge: An understanding of math above a standard level; demonstration and direction of safe work practice in excavations (OSHA Construction Regulations)

Skills: Can demonstrate critical thought process; open and active listening of directives from supervision

Abilities: ability to solve and resolve problems related to construction projects

Professional Certification: Competent Person, OSHA 10 or 30 certification a plus.

Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years' experience as an equipment operator

WORKING CONDITIONS

Outdoor; exposure to weather elements year round such as rain, snow, cold, dry, hot, and windy conditions. Weather conditions may change without warning. Ground conditions will vary based on weather conditions or site conditions and may include working in mud and water. May be exposed to noise from heavy equipment and tools. Exposure to some confined spaces such as but not limited to; trenches, trench boxes, manholes, inlets, vaults, pipes and excavations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be physically fit and able to perform construction labor activity, frequent use of hands, arms, legs and whole body which include long periods of balance, standing or sitting; frequent walking, climbing, bending and/or lifting; constant handling of material used during the pipe installation process; heavy lifting, moving, dragging, or connecting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

EXPECTED WORKING HOURS

Work hours will normally be from 7am through 5pm. Hours may vary depending on time of year (daylight savings), weather conditions, and contract obligations and may include beginning prior to 7am, working past 5pm.

WORK REPORTING LOCATION (S)

Foreman and/or Supervisor will inform employees of the work reporting location; this location will vary depending on the contract work to be performed; employees are expected to have reliable transportation to and from the work reporting location.

TRAVEL

Projects are primarily located within the Front Range Corridor of Colorado.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Ability to effectively communicate with and direct labor personnel on the jobsite
