Research facility seeking an entry level laboratory animal care technician. Looking for part time (20-25 hours/week), full time (40 hours/week). Will consider students looking for work over summer and people looking to start immediately! Holidays are paid at time and a half and typically run from 8-12.
The ideal candidate will be dedicated, compassionate, detail oriented and self motivated. As a laboratory animal care technician you will work in a fast paced environment. Work hours are between 8 am and 4:30 pm.
Responsibilities:
Assure the safety and humane treatment of all animals.
Perform routine animal health observations.
Report any animal health concerns to the Attending Veterinarian.
Provide all animals with daily interaction and socialization.
Follow all standard operating procedures and protocols.
Perform basic animal husbandry such as feeding, watering, kennel/cage cleaning, litter pan cleaning and cage washing.
Keep the facilities neat, clean and sanitary.
Perform animal health treatments and restraint procedures
Maintain records in an accurate and legible manner.
Assist veterinarians with varied duties as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Must be able and willing to work Saturday and/or Sunday and some holidays.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Attention to detail.
Animal care experience and a background in animal science or biology is preferred but not required.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
