As the Accountant II, you will be responsible for preparing, recording, analyzing, and reporting accounting transactions while ensuring the integrity of accounting records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with U.S. GAAP. You will conduct balance sheet reconciliations for all entities for accounts including, but not limited to, Cash, Prepaids/Deposits, Accruals and Intercompany GL’s. You have an intermediate knowledge of general accounting procedures and U.S. GAAP. You understand the organization’s structure and how it relates to the financial statements. You make decisions regarding your own work methods, occasionally in ambiguous situations, and require minimal direction and ask for guidance where needed. You have a strong working knowledge of Excel. You are self-organized, a great communicator, collaborative, eager to learn, a critical thinker, and accountable. This position has a starting pay between $60,000 and $70,000 annually and reports to the Controller. The right candidate can be located in Durango CO, Canton OH, or Pasadena/Houston Texas area.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS· Lead Balance Sheet Reconciliations for Cash, Prepaid/Deposits, Accruals, and Intercompany accounts ensuring that reconciliations meet audit standards· Propose journal entries month-end and reconcile balance sheet accounts· Lead process improvement initiatives in conjunction with Accounting Manager and Controller as it relates to treasury functions including but not limited to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash, and Intercompany· Create standard operating procedures template for account reconciliations and journal entries, and implement into their own account reconciliations and journal entries· Make continuous improvements to standard operating procedures such that SOPs can be operated independently · Become BlackLine matching expert· Participate in accounting software related upgrades and installations· Maximize the efficiency of reconciliation software to produce more accurate results and efficiency of the month end close· Oversee Intercompany transactions and the reconciliation of intercompany accounts· Invoice and enter intercompany transactions between companies monthly· Assist month-end and year-end financial reporting, including but not limited to research variances, financial statement aggregation, and preparing financial statement narratives for assigned sections· Work in conjunction with Accounting Manager to assist Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, occasionally acting as a backup for coverageo Being proficient for backup coverage includes inputting AP invoices for payment, conducting weekly pay runs, processing customer credit applications, and processing customer deposits· Assist in the Accounting department’s response to financial inquiries, including but not limited to ad hoc data reporting and budget-to-actual spend analysis for use in effective management of the business· Assist Controller and external preparers with annual review and audits, tax returns, foreign returns, while maintaining clean, traceable recordsOTHER QUALIFICATIONS· Handle sensitive or confidential information with honesty and integrity. · Use professional judgement in all financial activities. Examine transactions for proper authorization, accuracy and ensure company safeguards are met. · Work independently with minimal supervision; plan own work schedule effectively and multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced setting. · Communicate clearly with staff and the management team, as well as to outside agencies, vendors, and customers in a professional, courteous, and confidential manner. · Work effectively as a team member with the accounting department staff, managers, and staff of StoneAge. · Be flexible and prepared to assist the company in various project-based tasks as requested, along with any other duties as requested by the Director of Finance/Controller/Supervisor. RequirementsThe Accountant II must have: · A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance · Minimum 2 years’ experience in performing accounting functions · Ability to work full-time · Self-driven individual with an ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently · Intermediate understanding of U.S. GAAP and its application to accounting practices · Ability to work in teams and build relationships with a focus on proactive communication, work ethics, and integrity · Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing tasks, priorities, and work situations · Ability to work and communicate professionally with all levels of the organization · Strong mathematical and analytical skills · Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel) OTHER INFORMATION· Occasional travel may be required · Duties may include working more than 40 hours per week We value the diversity of the people we hire and serve.
