Concrete Curb and Paving was established in 1982 and exclusively paves concrete curbs, gutters, sidewalks and drivelanes for new civil construction and land development projects around the Denver metro area. Our customers are some of the largest homebuilders in the country including Richmond and Century. CCP is widely regarded as the best in class paver in Colorado and our competitive advantage comes from superior culture, operating processes, supplier relationships, quality of crew and machinery.
The Position:
The foreman will manage and direct the day-to-day operations of a large, single-scope crew and efficiently plan the execution of projects. They will ensure that crews meet production rate targets, uphold quality standards and maintain a safe work environment. The Foreman will work closely with the Project Manager, General Superintendent, clients, inspectors, and testers to execute projects efficiently and according to contract specifications.
This role requires strong leadership, planning, and problem-solving skills, as well as a deep understanding of municipal construction specifications, concrete finishing and formsetting, and site operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Oversight & Scheduling
· Assigned projects from start to finish
· Fully understand project scopes of work, and municipal specifications to ensure compliance.
· Attend all construction meetings with Project Managers or General Superintendents.
· Create and maintain a 3-day look-ahead schedule for each project, detailing daily work plans for dirt prep, form setting, concrete placement, backfill, and site housekeeping.
· Provide daily plan updates to the General Superintendent and Project Managers via email.
· Participate in a daily conference call to update progress, discuss needs, and address challenges.
Crew Leadership & Field Management
· Conduct daily Toolbox Talks before each shift to assign tasks and review the plan of the day.
· Lead, train, and hold crew members accountable for productivity, quality, and safety.
· Ensure accurate timekeeping by clocking crew members in/out with the correct project codes.
· Maintain crew morale and efficiency while enforcing CCP's standards for workmanship and safety.
· Communicate start times and job site locations to the crew for the next day's work.
Quality Control & Compliance
· Inspect work to ensure adherence to municipal specifications, contract requirements, and ADA compliance.
· Verify that the correct concrete mix designs, slumps, and additives are ordered and delivered as per project needs.
· Ensure backfill and spoil removal is completed within 48 hours of a pour.
· Document and report any out-of-scope work (T&M) performed.
· Address and correct any deficient workmanship, documenting issues via email.
Equipment & Material Management
· Ensure all machinery inspections, greasing, and fueling are completed and documented daily.
· Report equipment breakdowns immediately to the mechanic and General Superintendent for coordination.
· Communicate supply needs with assigned drivers for daily consumables and special tools.
· Complete the Demob Checklist whenever moving equipment out of a project.
Concrete & Material Orders
· Be the primary contact for day-of-pour concrete orders and adjustments. Responsible for adjusting last truck CY amount to the appropriate yield
· Confirm next-day concrete orders and ensure mix designs meet job specifications.
Safety & Compliance
· Enforce all CCP safety policies and immediately report any accidents or near misses to the General Superintendent.
· Ensure all necessary testing/inspection is passed before proceeding with work.
· Coordinates with PM to ensure utility locates are complete prior to digging
Administrative & Documentation Responsibilities
· Submit daily field reports for each project, detailing production rates and hours used.
· Maintain accurate documentation for time and material (T&M) work performed.
· Obtain prior approval for all company credit card purchases and immediately submit receipts to Accounts Payable.
· Report any lost or rejected concrete
Qualifications
· 2+ years of concrete crew management experience of 5-15 people.
· 5+ years of concrete finishing/forming experience including hand cutting radius and handicap ramps.
· Strong knowledge of forming, finishing, and site prep.
· Strong organizational skills, leadership ability, and problem-solving mindset.
· Ability to interpret construction plans/drawings, municipal spec sheets, and read survey stakes is a must
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
· Experience with and operational knowledge of modern slip form pavers is a plus.
· ACI Certified- Concrete Flatwork Associate/Finisher- or willingness to get certified.
