Operators will need to have experience operating CNC machines and will need to understand G&M code and how to edit and offset at the machine.
Prior experience as a CNC machine operator
Programing experience
Reliable and consistent
They will also need to know how to do in-process and first-article inspections on their parts.
Experience with basic measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, and gauges)
Interpret complicated drawings, program sheets, instructions, and process sheets to determine the work to be done.
Perform diversified operations on numerical control machining centers.
Perform a variety of milling, drilling, boring, or related operations to close and interrelated tolerances.
Review the setup sheet and specifications to determine the machining sequence and dimensions of the finished workpiece.
Attach the fixture to the machine bed, and position and secure the workpiece in the fixture according to the setup instructions.
Select and install cutting tools in the machine spindle or magazine.
Write and load programs on the machine control console or enter commands to retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions from a database.
Manipulate controls and enter commands to index the cutting tool to a specified set point and to start the machine.
Observe and listen to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
Change the cutting tools and location of the workpiece during the machining process as specified in the setup instructions.
