The EHS position is responsible for leading all safety programs and maintaining and continuing a safety-focused culture. This position partners with owners and management to update, continue and manage effective safety policies, procedures, manuals, and training to reduce injuries, accidents, and losses. This position is the EHS specialist and monitors workplace activities to ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations.

Description:

Conducts safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure compliance, evaluate performance and propose initiatives.

Develops, implements, manages, and maintains comprehensive environmental safety & health programs on-premises.

Collaborates with ownership and management to develop an Emergency Action Plan. Maintains a written log of safety inspection activities, reports, and correspondence.

Guarantees all work performance per approved manuals, internal policies and procedures, contract documents, and sound engineering practices.

Participates in team meetings and provides regular on-site project presence.

Continually evaluate tasks to ensure Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) are up to date and implemented.

Serve as primary contact for project site injury, incident notification, investigation, and case management. Assist operational departments with the timely completion of incident investigations and safety compliance.

Motivate all employees to follow the safety culture by administering a Proactive Safety Measure program and consistent communication.

Support and oversee contractor safety and coordinate work activities with RMR employees and plant operations.

Assist the facility in the development of corrective actions for identified hazards, including but not limited to implementation, tracking, and follow-up.

Coordinate/facilitate all required employee training, including but not limited to New Employee Safety Orientation, annual required re-training, forklift, material handler, overhead crane, and site-specific equipment safeguards.

Perform regular reporting of safety metrics, incident investigations, projects/initiatives, outstanding safety issues, and other necessary reporting.

Must be able to work independently.

A thorough knowledge of OSHA General Industry Regulations is required.

Overall knowledge of the recycled material industry is a plus.

Passion for continuously building a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement

Excellent communication and listening skills with the ability to develop or deliver safety programs and training materials.

Proven ability to perform safely, build relationships, and convey important safety initiatives across the organization.

Must be able to work outside under all weather conditions, including working in heat and cold weather.

Benefits:

Annual Salary Range $75,000 to $95,000 Full benefits – Medical/Dental/Vision, 401K, FSA

Minimum Requirements:

High School diploma & four years of EHS or related experience, or

Associate degree & three years of EHS or related experience, or

Bachelor's degree in a related field

Willing to train a recent related field graduate

OSHA 30 certification

Bilingual (Spanish)

Proficiency with computer operating systems, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), required

Must pass a post-offer screen, including a drug test and a background check.
