The Seal Coat Superintendent directs and supervises field personnel in the successful completion of paving and asphalt repair jobs as specified in various contracts and specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Employee shall perform all duties and responsibilities with National Pavement Partners.

Supervise Foreman and Assistant Superintendents; indirectly oversee field personnel.

Ensure jobs are completed on schedule, within budget and meet customer's expectations.

Serve as a safety ambassador by complying with federal, state and local laws, as well as Company safety policy.

Foster a safety culture that promotes and enforces safe work practices and proactively identify and remedy job-site hazards.

Establishes, coordinates, reviews, manages, and adjusts all ongoing production activities and methods for completion of jobs.

Ensures that all major department projects have pre-construction conferences scheduled and held.

Collaborate with Production Manager and Project Manager to ensure resources (human, material and equipment) are properly managed, utilized and accurately accounted for.

Develop and modify work processes to ensure the highest standards for quality, productivity, and profitability.

Attend bid reviews and pre-construction conferences.

Make certain that all jobs are reviewed and correctly laid out before crews arrive on site.

Develop and maintain quality controls.

Represent the Company and interact professionally with customers, vendors, sub-contractors and the public.

Develops and maintains an ongoing training system for all the employees in the department.

Motivate, mentor and develop direct reports.

Complete administrative tasks promptly and efficiently, to include Monthly inventory reports, daily job sheets, coding of invoices, job-site hazard analysis, mileage reports, employee time sheets and any other required reports.

Administer D.O.T. compliance for all department employees.

SAFETY

This position is considered a safety-sensitive position and is subject to the company's drug and alcohol policy, as well as all OHSA regulations.

All employees must wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Serves as a safety ambassador by complying with federal, state and local laws, as well as Company safety policy, enforces safe work practices, and proactively identifies and remedies worksite hazards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates at professional construction sites, requiring the ability to communicate with verbally others on site, in person and over the telephone, ability to read printed materials, signs and directions, stamina to maintain attention despite interruptions, ability to lift, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds and reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and/or ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around or otherwise position one's self around the required work and safety requirements to navigating and perform activities on various construction sites in a safe manner.

Will be required to work on project sites and operate vehicles, trailers, machinery, equipment and other tools within local, state and federal safety guidelines.

This position operates in a professional field environment. The position requires working outside, frequently for long periods of time in all weather, including extreme hot and cold temperatures.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL

Must be willing to travel to any and all jobsites without exception (including staying away from home if necessary.)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Work Experience

A high school diploma or GED is required.

Minimum of two (2) to three (3) years heavy construction experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Advanced education, professional training and construction experience are desirable.

Excellent communication skills are required.

Must be fluent in English, i.e., must be able to speak, read and write English
