Paid Live-In Aide Position for Special Olympic Athlete
Our daughter is looking for a woman interested in being her companion and helping her manage her active life with mild developmental disabilities. This person will work as her live-in aid and be her companion in a lovely modern Lakewood apartment near light rail and just five minutes from Sloan's Lake!
The requirements for this position include helping with a variety of day to day needs, including planning her weekly work calendar and activity schedules, meal planning and prepping with Julia, some transportation assistance and encouraging healthy habits. Our daughter works and attends other scheduled activities during the week so the companionship and support will occur mostly during the evenings and some weekend times. (The requirement is typically for a 5.5-day week. Her provider receives free rent and utilities (including Internet and Netflix). Serious candidates will be skillful in and committed to the following duties and responsibilities:
Supporting a healthy diet and physical activity
Managing her work and activities calendar
Grocery shopping and food preparation with Julia
Working to develop a meaningful friendship
Sometimes including our daughter in hobbies and interests
Doing something fun together every week
Helping her manage if something isn’t working in the apartment (Netflix, apple watch, etc.)
Providing some transportation assistance, such as rides to/ from work and recreational events – within a 10-mile radius of the apartment. We understand that you may have another job and can’t always provide rides.
Engaging with her as a friend, taking time to talk and get to know her.
Maintaining frequent communication with her parents/ guardians.
Requirements for the position include:
Must have reliable transportation with the ability to transport her safely
Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record
Must be able to pass background check
Must be reliable, dependable, motivated, and able to communicate in an effective, calm, and caring manner.
