L&L Hawaiian Barbecue is a restaurant dedicated to bringing the flavors and traditions of Hawaii to our local community. With an authentic menu and a warm aloha spirit, we've become a beloved dining destination.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for skilled and dedicated Line Cooks / Expos to join our culinary team at L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. As a Line Cook / Expo, you'll be at the heart of our kitchen, ensuring the quality and timely preparation of our mouthwatering Hawaiian dishes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Food Preparation – Menu preparation and expediting (45%): Complies with brand standard recipe portion sizes, cooking, and plating methods to produce high quality L&L menu items. This role is also required to verify that all condiments, sauces, dressings and additional menu items are fully stocked before and during operating hours.

- Quality Control – Recipe, Cooking and Presentation (20%): This position will require the team member to carry out their responsibilities using the proper brand standards for cooking, and presentation. They will be accountable to maintain the grill, fryer and expo area and ensure the necessary measures are taken to support the daily operations and a The line cook will be required to report any equipment that is not working properly to the manager.

- Cleanliness & Hygiene (10%): Maintains a clean and sanitary work station and good personal hygiene at all times.

Food Prep – Production and Support (15%): Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed and assist to prepare the core menu items for the next day.

- Product Back Up - BOH (5%): Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at the line station to assure a smooth service period. This would include pre-cooked items, pre-cut vegetables or pre-portioned ingredients to ensure efficiency during peak periods.

- Support & Assistance (5%): Performs other related duties as assigned by manager on duty.

COMMUNICATION & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

- Manager: Direct Report

- Prep Cook: Works with prep cook for backups and quality related concerns.

- Cashier: Coordinates with cashier to ensure correct orders are placed for guests.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT FOR JOB:

- Other Critical: Be able to reach, bend, stoop, withstand heat, and frequently lift up to 40lbs. Must be able to be in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours). Must be able to have flexible working hours.

OPERATING ENVIRONMENT:

- Team member must be able to handle working in a high stress environment, must be able to handle the pressure that will come with the position as a line cook. Must be able to be flexible and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.

- Experience in the BOH operations (25%): Specifically working hotline.

- Teamwork (15%): Be able to support and share the responsibilities with other members of the team.

- Time Management (10%): to organize and prioritize daily responsibilities and be able to multitask.

- Be a self-starter (10%): Be able to show initiative and have the ability to multitask.

- Be able to cope with high stress and pressure situations (10%).

- Problem Solving and Innovativeness (10%): Be able to look at situations in different ways to solve problems.

- Emotional Intelligence/Soft Skills (10%): Have the ability to work with people of different ethnic backgrounds. Be able to communicate properly with others. Be able to adjust to a changing work environment.

- Communication skills (10%): Be able to listen and communicate properly with team members and guests.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/ EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/ KNOWLEDGE/ ETC:

- Qualifications/Experience: High School Diploma / Food Hygiene Certificate

- Computer Knowledge: Basic knowledge and/or experience with technical equipment.

- Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly with manager, BOH team, FOH team, suppliers and guests.

- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Line Cook.

- Other Skills & Elements: Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40lbs and work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
