Job Description: Prep Cook and Kitchen Manager

Position Overview: We are a small catering company looking for a dedicated Prep Cook and Kitchen Manager to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, with responsibilities ranging from food preparation to managing kitchen inventory and hygiene. The position offers shifts primarily scheduled Monday through Friday, with the potential for overtime during large weekend events. Most prep needs are required from morning to mid-afternoon.

Key Responsibilities:

Prep Work:

Complete all tasks in order as listed on the prep list from the Head Chef.

Anticipate prep needs for upcoming events and coordinate food order lists with the Head Chef.

Wash, chop, and sort ingredients such as fruits, vegetables, and meats.

Measure quantities of seasonings and other cooking ingredients.

Parboil food, reduce sauces, and start the first steps in various dishes.

Organization and Stocking:

Label and stock all ingredients on easily accessible shelves.

Maintain an organized workstation.

Keep track of ingredient inventory and collaborate with the owner on restocking needs.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

Clean dishes, wash cooking utensils and cookware, take out the trash, and sanitize the kitchen.

Adhere to all relevant nutrition and sanitary regulations and standards.

Collaboration and Contribution:

Contribute to recipes and kitchen processes.

Ensure orders are filled and ready for hand-off to the delivery driver.

Qualifications:

Previous experience as a prep cook or in a similar role.

Knowledge of kitchen operations and food safety regulations.

SafeServ Manager Certificate preferred.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask.

Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Flexibility to work overtime during large events on weekends.

Schedule:

Shifts are primarily scheduled Monday through Friday as needed.

Potential for overtime during large events on weekends.

Most prep needs are required from morning to mid-afternoon.
