Director, Senior Corporate CounselGENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Director, Senior Corporate Counsel will be a member of the regulatory
team within the Justice League of DaVita (JLD). The individual will
provide legal guidance and support to the Company on regulatory and compliance
related matters as they arise with respect to DaVita Labs, a business unit
of DaVita, Inc., that provides clinical laboratory services and support to
DaVita, Inc.This position requires expertise in the Federal healthcare regulatory laws,
including the False Claims Act, the Anti-Kickback Statute, and their
implementing regulations, as well as experience reviewing state health care
regulations. Strong candidates will have healthcare payor contracting and
negotiation experience and strong knowledge base in medical payor regulations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as legal regulatory counsel and strategic partner to DaVita Labs, with
a primary emphasis on healthcare laws and regulations, as well as support
for payor relations and contracting. In partnership with other DaVita
attorneys and compliance teammates, assist business clients in identifying
and resolving legal/regulatory matters related to business initiatives.
Advise on compliance with federal and state health care industry laws and
regulations. Support all aspects of DaVita Labs business related to their
service offerings. Develop working relationships with business clients, as
well as legal and compliance partners.This role must be located in Deland, Florida at the DaVita Lab facility.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Juris Doctorate degree with approximately 6+years' experience in legal
practice representing businesses and/or organizations in the health care
industry, clinical laboratory experience is preferred.
Provide legal counsel on a variety of healthcare business, corporate, and
commercial matters arising in day-to-day operations of a complex organization
in a heavily regulated environment.
Draft, review, analyze, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and
other legal documents to which the company intends to become a party.
Perform special assignments as needed.
Support and collaborate with other areas of the JLD and Compliance.
At least one state bar admission and in good standing. Florida Bar membership
is preferred, or in the alternative, be eligible to apply for Florida
Authorized House Counsel.
Substantial knowledge of the Medicare program and health care fraud and abuse
laws and regulations.
Strong transactional and drafting skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple matters and priorities at one time in a fast-paced
enviro ment.
High degree of maturity and professionalism and the ability to work in a
