Our Government client is looking for an experienced
DevOps Engineer on a 12 months renewable contract role in Denver, CO.Position: DevOps EngineerDevOps Engineer / Process Architect capabilities with 8 or more years of experience in the field or in a related area. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of Contractor staff. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.Candidate Requirements:- Must have strong knowledge of automation, source control, configuration management, deployment automation, and CI/CD pipeline stacks (Azure DevOps preferred).
- Must have strong knowledge of shell scripting including Powershell, Bash (or equivalent), and web configuration including IIS.
- Must possess strong software security knowledge including (Dynamic and Static Code scanning analysis) (Veracode preferred)
- Must have strong knowledge of revision control systems, branching and merging, and general git knowledge.
- Experience with monitoring systems such as Splunk and Dynatrace.
- Experience with Agile and software development methodologies including working on a Kanban team in a continuous deployment environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft build environment (MsBuild, dotnet build) preferred.
- Familiarity with Oracle database environments, automating script deployments with SQL Plus or the like preferred. Bonus points for working in a Delphix environment.
- Familiarity with running unit and automated test scripts. Bonus points for experience in Microfocus ALM and UFT.
- Must possess strong communication and collaboration skills that would include building connections between development and operation teams.
- Highly motivated to work both independently and in collaboration with teams.
- Should be able to identify areas of improvement and relieve bottlenecks.
- Should be able to demonstrate a high level of understanding in development concepts, technical designs, database designs, application specifications and system integration
- Experience working with State of Colorado agencies preferred
- Automation and configuration management (Ansible preferred)
- Create Azure DevOps build and release pipelines
- Maintain and enhance DevOps related powershell scripts
- Configure Windows IIS settings for .NET application deployment
- Create and maintain deployment scripts for a Citrix-hosted desktop application
- Create and maintain repositories of release artifacts supporting the build and release pipelines (built artifacts, nuget packages, javascript packages)
- Configure Splunk and Dynatrace dashboards
- Configure Dynatrace to increase the uptime of software applications and services, including health checks and application server restarts
- Engage with the database administration team to schedule and promote database deployments
- Coordinate with the agency security team to ensure artifacts are appropriately scanned for security vulnerabilities before promotion
- Coordinate with the agency testing team to ensure testing gates are passed before promotion.
- Coordinate with the Trails Release manager to ensure artifacts have passed all quality and release gates before promotion to production.
- Provide technical guidance and oversight toward release and DevOps related activities.
- Proactively investigate new opportunities for automation across the SDLC.
- Build, maintain and execute automated code deployments. Manage and drive the phase out of manual code deployments.
- Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of build and release automation and best practices.
- Ensure SDLC and change management policies are followed with respect to release management.
- Interface with all technical teams to determine and establish processes for continuous integration, continuous deployments, and automated testing.
