We want you to apply!Here is some of what you can expect from being a Sterile Processing Technician II with us:

You will perform work processes of the department including decontamination, processing, sterilization and distribution of instruments, trays and supplies to the Operating Room and other Patient Care Departments in the hospital.

You will be responsible for the decontamination of soiled instruments, utensils and equipment and the assembly and preparation of instruments and equipment needed for daily surgical procedures.

You will provide asset management and support of surgical instruments and trays belonging to or consigned to the facility, in accordance with The Department of Health, TJC, OSHA, CDC, AAMI and AORN standards.

You will assist in developing and establishing workflow, process improvements, daily work assignments, log documentation and management.

You will report broken instrumentation and provide vital communication with team leadership and/or manager.

What qualifications you will need:

Current Central Service Technician certification with IAHCSMM or CBSPD required.

High school or GED required

1 year experience with multi-specialty OR Instrumentation preferred or went to school for SPD or went to school for SPD

Ability to read, comprehend and write English, including an understanding of medical terminology.

Ability to operate washer sterilizer, ultrasonic washer, heat sealer, nitrogen tank, air hose, Steris Vpro or Sterrad, and steam autoclave equipment.

Knowledge of medical terminology and ability to develop and accurately follow tray cards.

Ability to respond to requests promptly and accurately for surgical instruments and supplies.

Advanced knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment.

Proven skills in critical thinking and active problem solving relative to Central Sterile standards.

Advanced working knowledge of sterilization principles, including AORN, AMMI & OSHA guidelines.

Actively collaborates with essential personnel to ensure that instruments and supplies are

Properly sterilized, in acceptable working condition, and appropriately stored.

Ability to stand or walk constantly and lift heavy instrument trays.

Excellent organizational and manual dexterity skills.

The Lead Instrument Technician must function as a key resource to the nursing staff regarding the availability of instruments and relative to the age specific needs of patients
