Museum Building Services Manager

Then this is the position for you! We are looking for a Building Services Manager to join our team! This Building Services Manager overseas the custodial and building services teams and their leaders, to ensure exceptional cleaning, waste management, and mail operations for the Museum. This position provides expertise in managing a large and diverse workforce in accomplishing these objectives. This position will require full-time in-person work at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.

A pay differential will be paid for Spanish speaking (and/or writing, reading) fluency.

Job Class: Full Time

Hiring Range: $72,000 - $78,000

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday

Essential Duties:

- Develops annual priorities and goals for the custodial services and building services teams.

- Supervises three direct reports and leads and trains the custodial and building services teams in accomplishing Museum-wide objectives.

- DEAI (diversity, equity, access and inclusion): Creates time for personal and professional growth in DEAI for self and team. Works with the team to ensure DEAI is embedded in our practices and relationships across the team and community. Is a champion for the value of DEAI in our work with each other and our audiences.

- Prepares annual budget for custodial services and building services, including labor, supplies, equipment acquisition and repair, and special projects.

- Ensures staffing levels are appropriate to meet the needs of the Museum.

- Conducts daily update calls with supervisors to reviews daily event details, outstanding work orders, labor reports and alerts, employee issues, staffing needs, customer issues, inventory supply and equipment needs and status.

- Ensures shipping and receiving processes are implemented and followed for efficient loading dock and mailroom operations.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

- 5 years’ experience in the cleaning or building maintenance industries with basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and floor work techniques.

- 3 years’ experience supervising staff.

- 18 years of age or older.

- Ability to work variable hours and a flexible schedule, as needed, to accommodate museum activities which may include weekends or on-call.

Ideal Candidate Will Be/Have

- Bilingual English/Spanish for written documents and oral conversations.

- Acumen for team building among large, diverse crew that work different shifts.

- DEAI (diversity, equity, access and inclusion) experience: building or collaborating with diverse teams. A commitment to DEAI and advancing our work to increase the number and diversity of people who connect with the Museum around nature and science in ways that are meaningful to them.

- Proven ability to lead with understanding and empathy, while maintaining high cleaning standards and accountability.

- Ability to create a shared vision for the team and motivate them to work towards common goals.

- Proven record of accomplishment in commercial custodial management or building maintenance, including supervision of multiple shifts.

- High degree of professionalism, trustworthiness and integrity.
