Job Store Staffing is looking for a Camp Head Chef in the Elbert, CO area who will be serving campers entering 2nd through 11th grade. We are looking for someone who is high-energy, creative, open-minded, and enthusiastic with prior experience working in food service. Individuals of all backgrounds, faiths, and families are welcome.

Location: Elbert, CO, 80106

Pay: $25 - $27 per hour

Duration: Seasonal: May 15th - August 14th

Job Description

This camp’s Kitchen Staff have one of the most important and integral jobs at summer camp: assisting the chef team in ensuring everyone receives a meal. They are responsible for helping to cook all the meals at camp, take lead on kitchen clean up, and assist in keeping all meals and the kitchen kosher.

Responsibilities

Follow a weekly menu with dietary alternatives for 200 - 300 people per meal, appropriately delegating responsibilities for individual parts of each meal to cooks and kitchen staff

Create innovative solutions for leftovers that minimize food waste

Oversee and ensure that the entire kitchen team is in compliance with standards of the local Health Department, food allergen procedures, and kosher practices

Assist kitchen manager in kitchen oversight, implementation of trainings, meal presentations, and food inventory and deliveries as needed

Other duties as assigned including participating in food-based programming for campers, helping pack food for backpacking trips, and shifting into kitchen staff or cook roles to support unplanned absences

Physical Demands and Working Environment

Physical Demands: This job requires the incumbent to have operative auditory and visual functioning. Employee must also be able to walk upwards of two (2) miles each day, including use of stairs and uneven terrain.

Work Environment: Working conditions may include being in loud, indoor spaces as well as spending extended time outdoors under the sun. Must have the ability to work in a hectic, sometimes stressful environment while maintaining the standard of care.

Qualifications

Must meet all requirements for employment with our client including: background screening, three references, documentation, and compliance with CDHS law

Must attend Staff Orientation from 5/22/2024 - 6/9/2024

Must live at camp or be able to commute for the summer season

Must have 2-3 years of previous experience as a chef cooking in restaurants, professional level knife skills, and be ServSafe Certified

Strong understanding of food conservation, food portioning, and kashrut/kosher laws
