Hellenic Enterprises, the owner/operator of diversified business interests, including the Shrine of Remembrance Mausoleum, Funeral Home, and Crematory, as well as commercial real estate and hospitality businesses, is seeking to hire an experienced, general business accountant / bookkeeper to work with our controller.
This is a meaningful, rewarding position with advancement potential requiring a stable, good-natured, career-orientated, professional person who is detail-orientated and able to multi-task with accuracy.
It is preferred that applicants possess an associate degree or better (two years of college) and a strong background in office administration/management and all areas of accounting to include human resources, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, day-to-day general bookkeeping, and general ledger entries/maintenance. An outside CPA firm is used for final tax preparation and as a consultant, as needed, to assist us in running the financial aspects of our businesses.
Employment offered is full-time, stable, and long-term. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with an individual's education, relevant work experience, and overall work product. Employment benefits (to include life insurance, dental insurance, and paid time off) are available.
Assuming that an individual's skills, work product, personality, and education are appropriate for the work, longevity of employment is of the upmost importance to us. In other words, we are looking to hire an individual who desires steady, long-term employment. Due to the nature of the work and the industries in which we are involved, this position is not well suited to individuals who desire, or have a history, to change jobs every year or two. As there is a significant learning curve to become proficient with our primary area of service (the deathcare industry), we strongly prefer not to engage with an individual, for this job, who is just looking to work with us for a few months or even a year or two. Our goal would be to hire and employ someone who is desirous to "put down roots" in our industry (which can be very interesting and rewarding) and ideally work with our family owned and operated company for five to ten years, or more.
