Position: Truck & Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic Reports To: Shop Foreman Schedule: Typically, Mon - Fri 6:00a - 3:00p. Varies based on demands. Some night and weekend work possible. Position Summary As a Truck & Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, including trucks, cranes, excavators, graders, and trailers, used in construction. Your dedication to safety and efficiency will contribute to the success of our projects. Essential Functions

Safely drive service trucks and operate various tools and machinery required for the position.

Collect, log, and ship samples as required during scheduled service.

Coordinate activities with supervisors daily.

Inspect and record each machine for deficiencies, necessary services, or safety concerns.

Repair and replace damaged equipment and parts.

Perform welding and other necessary repairs.

Clean, lubricate, and conduct routine services on various trucks, light-duty, and heavy-duty equipment.

Comply with company policies and establish a safe work environment that adheres to OSHA standards and our safety program.

Observe assigned equipment to detect machinery malfunctions and operate machinery to verify repairs.

Minimum of two years of experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment.

Current CL R Driver’s License, with an acceptable driving record.

Physical Demands/Abilities

Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, move, and drag objects up to 75 lbs on flat ground or steep slopes.

Frequent standing, walking, twisting, bending, and reaching.

Climbing, descending, squatting, kneeling, and crawling.

Ability to work in varying outdoor conditions, including extreme temperatures, wind, dust, and noise from heavy equipment and machinery.

Willingness to handle cleaners, solvents, lubricants, grease, fuels, paints, and other chemicals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy/highway construction work.

Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing various machinery and trucks used in construction.

Ability to read and understand manuals, schematics, and diagrams related to machinery and equipment.

Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.

Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to the work schedule.

Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.

Capability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.

Education, Training, and Experience

Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.

Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions.

CL R License with an acceptable driving record.

Work environment with loud noise levels and quick movements.
