Command, Control, and Communications (C3) Engineering & Operations Department (CEOD) staff provide operationally-focused engineering solutions for space enterprise C3 systems in support of our IC, DoD, and civilian customers. CEOD capabilities include delivering systems engineering support for missions and C2 system development; leading system and software test planning and execution campaigns; supporting ground system and architecture modernization efforts; providing software development expertise; influencing future electronic warfare and satellite communications (SATCOM) investments; providing operational C2 expertise for future systems; and, providing technical and operational experience with fielded space systems and missionsThis position is a hybrid work model and can sit partially remotely, with some onsite work required in Colorado Springs, CO.What You'll Be Doing- Influence the development of future mission and C2 prototypes and systems for IC and DoD customers
- Plan system and software test campaigns, conduct tests, and review test artifacts
- Develop and validate requirements related to future ground C2 systems
- Help modernize ground systems and architectures for the space enterprise
- Actively participate in a range of technical and project engineering activities including, but not limited to, requirements development, software reviews (requirements, design, and implementation), software delivery (test, installation, checkout) and integration
- Help programs transition to modern software development processes and tools and apply digital engineering
- Work across space mission and program boundaries to identify common program challenges and risks, provide recommendations, and lead issues to closure
- Serve as a key technical contributor on space prototype/system readiness review teams and provide impartial technical assessments to decision authorities
- Work closely and effectively with external stakeholders in integrated product teams that include government, FFRDC, and contractor members
- Communicate effectively with all levels of Corporate management through timely reporting of technical issues and recommendations
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from a recognized institution in engineering, mathematics, or technical science
- Strong technical reputation and track record of technical achievement
- 8 or more years' experience in satellite operations, ground systems engineering, modernizing ground architectures, software test, verification, validation, and sustainment along with general systems engineering and integration for ground or space systems desired
- Familiarity with one or more of the following programs: SBIRS, FORGE, NGG, GNOME, HOME, and EGS
- Experience operating in an Agile, DevSecOps, or other advanced software development environment
- Experience with software systems engineering processes including requirements development, configuration management, testing, and documentation
- Experience working on multi-discipline and multi-organizational teams
- Ability to work effectively with the Government customers, contractors, and Aerospace team members
- High level of creativity, initiative, and innovation
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Active Secret security clearance; eligible for Top Secret SCI clearance
- Willing to travel approximately 25%.
- All of the above required for Ground Systems Engineer
- 12 or more years experience in satellite operations, ground systems engineering, modernizing ground architectures, software test, verification, validation, and sustainment along with general systems engineering and integration for ground or space systems desired
- Advanced degree (or equivalent) from a recognized institution in engineering, mathematics, or technical science
- Experience working with Enterprise Ground Services (EGS)
- Experience supporting the SBIRS constellation
- Demonstrated software development proficiency in object-oriented programming languages (C, Java, Python, etc.)
- Experience working with projects that incorporated digital engineering or model-based systems engineering
- Experience with US Space Force, SSC (formerly, SMC), and NRO customers
- Experience supporting ground system modernization efforts
- Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI access
- Program office or project management experience desired
