As a Legal Operations Manager for the County Attorney’s Civil Division, your role will involve leading a high-performance team of paralegals in supporting the County’s vision and purpose. You will have the opportunity to interact extensively with other leaders throughout the organization in making an impact on the community. Hiring Range: $105,000.00- $115,000.00annually (salary to be commensurate with qualifications)This position has an anticipated work schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, subject to change. Directs and supervises activities of legal staff; monitors the legal support to attorney staff and facilitates the day-to-day operations of the office. Coordinates and works with attorneys regarding decisions that affect the attorney-paralegal working relationships regarding active litigation in court, as well as providing legal staff assistance. Ensures that business is conducted in a manner that is in accordance with policies and procedures.Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Provides direction and supervision to legal staff; establishes priorities and job expectations, ensuring that goals are met. Monitors and evaluates work performance and workload, coaches and provides guidance with development opportunities. Meets regularly with the staff members to strategize on best practices. Conducts performance evaluations and motivates employees to reach peak productivity and performance; participates in the hiring and disciplinary process.

Manages a working knowledge of the responsibilities of assigned staff, and manages a caseload within the department.

Participates in strategic planning and develops goals and action plans for growth and change. Analyzes department needs and measures efficiency in policies and procedures. Coordinates, plans, and manages the growth of the office regarding current and future employees and workspace.

Maintains and approves staff schedules as needed in conjunction with attorneys' needs.

Coordinates, and on occasion, facilitates and presents staff training.

Maintains and monitors applicable database(s), ensuring accurate record keeping.

Keeps current with best practices and new legislative changes that affect mandated services. Attends and participates in meetings, conferences, and training as appropriate.

Performs other duties as required.

Supervision Exercised: This classification requires supervising and monitoring performance for a regular group of employees or unit(s) including providing input on hiring/disciplinary action and work objectives/ effectiveness, performance evaluations, and realigning work as needed. A first-line or second-line supervisor typically performs these tasks.Supervision Received: Receives administrative supervision. This classification typically performs job duties and resolves conflict according to their own judgment and initiatives, requesting supervisory assistance only when necessary. Special projects are managed with little oversight, and assignments may be reviewed upon completion. Performance reviewed periodically.QualificationsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of legal terminology, court systems, and legal research.

Knowledge of policies, procedures, and practices.

Knowledge of Colorado and/or Federal statutes, court rules, rules of evidence, and legal attorney rules of ethics.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Ability to exercise sound and professional judgment in conformance with policies and procedures.

Ability to efficiently plan, schedule, and organize. Ability to analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, and implement recommendations.

Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate policies and procedures to staff. Ability to lead, manage, and train others; ability to objectively review, evaluate, and document the performance of employees.

Ability to work and communicate effectively with coworkers, elected officials, executive leadership, County and court staff, and the public. Ability to provide excellent customer service.

Ability to organize and prioritize work and to work independently.

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Ability to plan long and short-range projects, including outlines, timelines, estimated staff, and material costs; ability to convey the process and outcome to varied audiences.

Ability to work effectively and in a timely manner when faced with a high volume of work, multiple deadlines, frequent interruptions, and dealing with difficult individuals.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as employment policies, instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, and telephone.

Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Required Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent education.

Paralegal certificate, degree, or experience and coursework in the legal field.

Five years of paralegal experience.

One year of supervisory or demonstrated leadership experience.

Licenses/Certificates

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Notary Public Commission preferred.

Certified Paralegal designation preferred.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, motor vehicle record check, and drug screen.
