Job SummaryThe Adult Intake team works together to be the “front door” of Adult Intake. In this position, you be would part of a team of 11 who all work together in different ways to process new applications received for programs such as Adult Financial assistance, Long Term Care, SNAP, and Medicaid. In this position, you would rotate with other specialists to aid in uploading PEAK applications for Adult and Colorado Works as well as respond to emails, cover the adult phone line to answer client questions or reschedule appointments, and work closely with other divisions to maintain consistent business processes across the agency. This position typically services a population of elderly and disabled clients and works closely with community partners such as nursing homes and case management agencies to help clients get the assistance they need. The adult programs can be complex, but it is satisfying if you enjoy diversity in your everyday job. Each case is unique and will have its own circumstances giving the opportunity to see something new every day! Salary to be commensurate with qualifications Human Services Associate Benefits & Eligibility SpecialistSalary Range: $35,600.00 - $51,600.00 AnnuallyTypical Hiring Range: $36,188.00 - $44,420.75 Annually Human Services Benefits & Eligibility SpecialistSalary Range: $39,750.00 - $57,780.00 AnnuallyTypical Hiring Range: $40,479.10 - $48,514.46 This position has an anticipated work schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm, subject to change. Determines initial and/or ongoing eligibility for a variety of benefit programs including but not limited to Health First Colorado [formerly Medicaid], Colorado Child Care Assistance, Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program [formerly Food Stamps], Colorado Works, Adult Financial and Long Term Care. This position is part of the Human Services Benefits & Eligibility Specialist career progression series, which includes Human Services Associate Benefits & Eligibility Specialist and Human Services Benefits & Eligibility Specialist. An employee is eligible to advance to the next position within the series when the employee has met the criteria for advancement as notated within the job description and has received a recommendation from the Hiring Authority.Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Interviews applicants/clients and assists them in understanding and completing all required eligibility paperwork.

Verifies program and services eligibility factors by retrieving or confirming information from a variety of sources.

Performs eligibility computations based upon client-provided and collateral information; determines applicability of work registration requirements.

Conducts client customer service reviews.

Reviews cases for accuracy and completeness.

Investigates and computes possible issuance errors; creates reports concerning circumstances, establishes claims and restores lost benefits.

Responds to client requests for appeals or administrative hearings, composes rebuttal letters and attends hearings.

Provides clients with information and referrals to community support services, child care assistance and other available resources to help facilitate a comprehensive solution to the client's circumstances.

Answers the Customer Service Line (CSL) and/or consumer inquiries to assist with changes and questions about our services as needed.

Participates in internal committees, training, workshops and seminars.

Assists with unassigned caseloads as needed.

Performs other duties as required.

QualificationsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Working knowledge of public assistance rules, regulations and procedures helpful.

Ability to communicate and work effectively with co-workers, other DHS personnel, clients, other agencies and the public.

Ability to effectively plan, schedule, organize and assess situations to make prudent and appropriate decisions.

Ability to provide conflict resolution and problem solving skills.

Ability to use standard office equipment including computer, fax machine, copier and telephone.

Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Required Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent education.

Two years of customer service or administrative experience.

Associate's or Bachelor's degree may substitute for the required experience.

Human Services Benefits & Eligibility Specialist:

Three years of customer service or administrative experience.

Bachelor's degree may substitute for the required experience; Associate's degree may substitute for two years of the required experience.

Minimum one year experience determining eligibility for public assistance in a social services agency.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Must pass conditional post offer background investigation and drug screen.

Work ConditionsDuties are primarily performed in a high volume office and remote work environment dependent on business needs. May be required to work evening and weekend hours.
