Description Robert Half is a seeking a Controller for a dynamic and rapidly growing construction company backed by private equity. The Controller will play a critical role in managing and overseeing the accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and cash management functions of the company. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, exceptional analytical abilities, and a deep understanding of financial management in the construction industry. The Controller will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information, drive financial policies and procedures, and support the company’s growth and compliance objectives.Oversight of Accounting Operations:

Manage and supervise the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.

Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.

Maintain the chart of accounts and oversee the preparation of journal entries.

Financial Reporting:

Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.

Develop and distribute regular financial reports to management, stakeholders, and the private equity firm.

Analyze financial results and provide insights and recommendations to senior management.

Internal Controls:

Design, implement, and monitor effective internal control systems to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.

Conduct regular assessments of internal controls and recommend improvements.

Cash Management and Forecasting:

Manage cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed.

Oversee cash, investment, and asset management activities.

Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts to support strategic planning and operational needs.

Financial Policies and Procedures:

Establish, document, and enforce accounting policies and procedures.

Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards.

Update and maintain financial policies as needed to reflect changes in regulations and industry best practices.

Audits and Compliance:

Coordinate and manage external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and liaising with auditors.

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.

Oversee the preparation and filing of tax returns and other regulatory filings.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, CPA certification preferred.

Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting/finance, with at least 3+years in a Controllership role.

Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards.

Experience with accounting software and ERP systems; preferring NetSuite.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
