Job Title: ReStore Cashier

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Part Time – Wednesday – Sunday between 20-25 hours/per week
Starting Pay: Pay Range: $16.50 - $18.00 per hour, commensurate with experience

Summary: The Cashier position is responsible for the processing and accepting of payments for purchase of items, answering questions about the store and merchandise and welcoming and assisting customers, volunteers and donors. The employee must be willing to adhere to and express the mission of Habitat for Humanity and maintain a positive working atmosphere. The Sales Associate must have a “customer first” mindset and the desire to work in a nonstandard retail environment. We are looking for a friendly, outgoing individual with excellent interpersonal skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Greet and assist customers and donors with a friendly attitude, answer questions as they arise.
Operate a cash register and/or Point of Sale system (Square) with proficiency and accuracy to document sale of merchandise and issue receipts.
Process cash, credit card, and check transaction, following established procedures for each sale.
Maintain a balanced and accurate cash drawer.
As needed, obtain, or receive merchandise, coordinate with donation intake to stock merchandise.
Restock misplaced items from the sales floor and unpurchased items from receiving area daily.
Create displays and arrange merchandise to promote sales.
Price and apply tags to merchandise.
Answer phone calls and provide store information, directions, etc.
Maintain an orderly and clean store – to include cleaning and organization of shelves, counters, floors, and displays.
Process returns and refunds.

Experience with construction or home improvement related retail experience a plus.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years’ related retail and cash handling experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Building knowledge is helpful.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, volunteers, and other employees of the organization.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of the Internet; MS Excel Spreadsheet software and MS Word Processing software, a cash register and/or Square POS and have the ability to be trained on database management system.
Physical Demands:
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, with assistance.
