The Operations Manager is responsible for maintaining and increasing the efficiency of Cal-Wood. This role involves overseeing day-to-day operations and supports the operations of the different departments and the executive office — from finance and IT to human resources and insurance management.

Responsibilities

· Maintain constant communication with managers, staff, clients, and vendors to ensure proper operations of Cal-Wood

· Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance protocols

· Increase the efficiency of existing processes and procedures to enhance Cal-Wood’s internal capacity

· Ensure that the operational activities remain on time and within budget

· Track staffing requirements, helping managers hire new employees as needed

· Working with the office manager and accountant to ensure all payroll, benefits, and personnel changes are handled smoothly, including monthly payroll processing.

· Partner with the different departments to improve their systems

· Help the different departments with project planning and budgets

· Work closely with legal and safety agencies to ensure all our activities remain compliant

· Help the Executive Director with organizing the board meetings

· Oversee Cal-Wood’s technology needs

· Conduct budget reviews and report cost plans to the ED

· Help managers and ED to conduct annual employee performance reviews in a timely and effective manner.

Required skills and qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in operations management, business administration, or related field

· Two or more years of proven success in an operations management role

· Strong skills in budget development and oversight

· Knowledge of business productivity software and an aptitude for learning new applications

· Knowledge of technology systems to make sure Cal-Wood is up to date with all technology needs

· Strong IT skills, including database development

· Multiple years of financial and account reporting experience

· Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and improve systems and processes.

· Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

· Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of efficiency and effectiveness.

Cal-Wood is non-for-profit organization that has provided residential environmental and outdoor education experiences to hundreds of thousands of Coloradans since 1982 at our 1,200-acre classroom located west of Boulder Colorado.
