Seeking Full-Time Harvest Manager

Sunflower Farm Acres, is a production farm, stemming from Sunflower Farm’s educational demonstration farm. Sunflower Farm has been educating children and families about farming, animals, gardening and nature for over 20 years, and is now growing food for the community through CSA shares, farmer’s markets, wholesale vegetable sales and on-site veggie sales.
We are currently seeking a Harvest Manager, who is hard working, loves working outside in a fun, supportive environment and can stay committed to the entire growing season! This position will begin full-time, 40 hours per week in March through November 21, 2025.
This employee would be responsible for leading the field crew in the Monday-Friday 7-3PM harvesting, weeding, transplanting, seeding, post-harvest handling, bunch, packing and preparing vegetables to pack CSA boxes, for Thursday night’s distribution. They will also be responsible for leading and overseeing the field crew in harvesting, planting and weeding. This includes managing and working daily with the farm crew, consisting of full and part-time employees and volunteers to ensure that all food is properly harvested and stored in our facilities.
Responsibilities of Harvest Manager:
Manage all aspects of harvesting, weeding, seeding and transplanting, together with the head farmer and operations manager, to ensure efficient flow of product from field to storage.
Supervise and oversee employees in harvesting and field work.
Coordinating with head farmer and operations manager to create CSA distribution lists each week.
Train employees in proper harvest and field weeding techniques.
Coordinates with wash station manager to facilitate weekly CSA boxes.
Helps wash station manager in washing, packing and preparing CSA boxes and keeping wash station clean as needed.
Helps to stock farm store and harvest and pack veggies for wholesale orders and weekend Saturday markets.
A minimum of two years previous farm and harvest or wash station management experience is required, including wash and pack, plus fieldwork on a farm with seeding, transplanting, irrigation and harvesting experience required. Strong management, leadership and communication skills in a fast- paced outdoor environment is key!
Successful candidates love working outside in all weather conditions, must be physically fit to lift at least 50 pounds and be able and willing to walk, kneel and stand all day in the heat, snow or rain. This is a seasonal full time, position, beginning in March through end of November.
Benefits: The production farm will be closed the week of June 30th and the harvest manager will receive 5 days of paid vacation for that week. Included is a regular veggie CSA share, beginning the week of June 2 through November 20th and sick and safe pay, is offered as it is accrued every 30 hours worked. Included is also free access for you and 2 other people for any Farmfest Music evening.
40 hours a week is required each week, at $23 per hour. Come join our growing farm crew!
